Oil is important for moisturizing the skin, and you can take comfort from knowing that oily skin delays wrinkling, age spots, and fine lines, and sebaceous glands become less active as we age. In the meantime, the problem remains that oil clogs the pores of the skin, and the effects are, naturally, the production of blackheads and pimples, as well as enlarged pores and redness.
Oily skin care treatments involve taking steps to keep pores from getting clogged and blemishes from appearing. Regular care and appropriate treatment of oily skin can go a long way in keeping it clean and blemish free. Following are some homemade all-natural recipes you can use to create a face mask for oily skin.
Cucumber Yogurt Face Mask for Oily Skin
To create this mask, you will need half of a cucumber and 3 tablespoons of fresh plain yogurt. You peel the cucumber, cut it into small slices and put them in a blender. You add the yogurt to the cucumber slices in the blender.
You blend both of these ingredients well until you get a smooth paste which you can now apply all over your face and neck, but not on the area near to your eyes.
You let the mask stay on your skin up to 15 minutes. You rinse off with lukewarm water and follow by cold water to close up the skin pores. You wipe your face dry and put on some moisturizer.
Gelatin Tomato Face Mask for Oily Skin
To make this face mask, you will need to combine one packet of unflavored gelatin with one cup of tomato juice in a clean, heat-safe container. Next, you heat the mixture gently in microwave for up to one minute, or in a double-boiler on top of your stove, to dissolve the gelatin thoroughly. Stir the mixture well.
Remove the gelatin and juice mixture from the heat and place it in the refrigerator. Chill for up to 30 minutes–until just before the gelatin starts to set. Wash your face thoroughly with mild soap or cleansing cream, then apply the gelatin mask gently, using your fingers or a small make-up brush.
Cover your face with the gelatin-tomato mixture, avoiding the eye area. Use a gentle, upward touch on your face. Avoid pulling your facial skin downward. Relax for 15 to 20 minutes with the mask on your face. Avoid moving your mouth–including activities such as talking or drinking–for the entire time the gelatin mixture stays on your face. After 15 minutes, touch the mask lightly with your fingertips to test for dryness.
Remove the mask by placing your thumb and index finger under your chin and peeling in an upward motion until the mask is removed.
Rinse your face thoroughly with tepid water until all residues is gone, and then pats your skin dry with a clean towel.
Lemon Orange Yogurt Face Mask for Oily Skin
To make this face mask, you will require 1 cup of fresh plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon each of lemon juice, orange juice and carrot juice. Mix all of these ingredients together in a bowl to form a paste which you can apply all over your face and neck, while staying clear from the eyes.
You leave this mask on your skin for up to 15 minutes. You rinse off first with lukewarm water and follow by cold water to close up the skin pores so as to retain moisture. You wipe your face dry with a cloth and apply some moisturizer.
Papaya Honey Face Mask for Oily Skin
To make this face mask, you will need half of a papaya with seeds remove, 1 tablespoon each of raw organic honey (or manuka honey) and Fuller’s earth. First you mash the papaya with a fork, put it in a bowl, and then add in the honey and Fuller’s earth to form a thick paste.
Clean your face first and apply this paste all over your face and neck and leave it on for up to 15 minutes. The Fuller’s earth in this mask absorbs oil in the skin. Do apply this mixture for once a week to maintain healthy, radiant and whitened skin.
After 15 minutes, you rinse it off with lukewarm water and follow by cold water to close up the skin pores so as to retain the moisture in the skin. You wipe your face dry with a cloth and put on some moisturizer.
Soy Lemon Face Mask for Oily Skin
To make this mask, you will need 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of soy curds. You mix both of these ingredients in a blender well. Then you spread this mixture on your face and neck, keeping clear of the area near to your eyes.
You allow the mixture to stay on your skin until it dries. Then you rinse it off with lukewarm water and follow by cold water to close up the skin pores. You wipe your face dry and put on some moisturizer.
