Bathing in milk is a fantastic way to get soft, supple skin all over your body. Milk removes dead skin cells and softens skin. It also nourishes and smoothens, so it is especially good for dry skin or skin that seems to have lost its vitality. When you bath yourself with milk, you should choose those with higher fat content because this will be more nourishing for your skin.

Here are 6 homemade milk bath recipes you can use to give yourself a queen treatment at the comfort and privacy of your home.

Homemade Milk Bath Recipe #1

Needed ingredients are 2 cups of full-fat milk (or ½ cup of powdered milk) and 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey. If you want to, you can substitute milk with butter milk. Both are equally okay. The lactic acid in milk, which is a kind of Alpha-Hydroxyl acid (AHA) helps to dissolve the bond that holds the dead skin cells together, which makes it a good exfoliating agent. As for butter milk, besides having AHA, it has more fat than regular milk which sure leave your skin silky smooth. If you use butter milk, 2 cups will be just enough.

You mix the honey and milk together to form a bathing lotion and then you simply pour it into a running bath. Honey has an abundance of health properties. First of all, it is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose so it is also a gentle alpha hydroxyl acid. It’s made up of both minerals and vitamins to help nourish and heal the skin.

If you like to experiment even more, you can add in more ingredients. In this case, you will need 2 cups of milk, 1 cup of raw honey, ¼ cup of baking soda, 1 cup of either sea salt or Epsom salt, 1-2 teaspoons of jojoba oil and 5 drops of lavender essential oil. You combine honey, milk, salt and baking soda in a bowl. Add to running water. Finally add in the jojoba oil and lavender essential oil.

Epsom salts are a natural healing agent, detoxifer, skin emollient and exfoliate. The magnesium in Epsom salt relaxes and soothes aching muscles, reduces swelling and helps heal bruises. Baking soda neutralizes damaging acids on the skin and smoothes it. Jojoba oil closely resembles human sebum (oil that is produced by human body), our skin accepts it very well without the threat of any allergic reactions. Jojoba oil can reduce wrinkles, stretch marks and scars.

Homemade Milk Bath Recipe #2

You mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. When you want to use it, you can pour a cup of this mixture into the bath tub as you fill it with water and stir well.

You will need 2 cups of coconut milk, 3 drops each of tangerine and ylang ylang essential oils (or 6 drops of lavender essential oil) and some freshly rose petals.

You add the oils into the milk in a bowl, and then you add this mixture to the bath water. Finally you spread the rose petals into the bath water, hop in and indulge your senses.

Homemade Milk Bath Recipe #4

The ingredients for this recipe are 11/2 cup of raw honey (or manuka honey), ½ cup of powdered milk, ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil and 1 teaspoon of lavender essential oil. Mix the milk and honey together in a bowl before you add in the oils. When you want to use, you can empty the contents from the bowl into the bathtub of warm water.

Homemade Milk Bath Recipe #6

You will need 2 cups of milk powder, ¼ cup of rice flour (or 1 cup of oat flour), ½ cup of honey, ½ cup aloe vera gel, ¼ cup baking soda and 2 teaspoons of lavender essential oil. You first mix the non-oil ingredients together in a bowl before you add in the oil. When you are already to use, you pour the mixture into a bath tub of warm water and stir.

Bathing in aloe vera is useful when you suffer from sun burns. Aloe vera softens and soothes your skin, removes any fungal bacterial infections and heals any minor wounds. Though aloe vera is a miracle herb, it is always better to get tested for any aloe allergy before using this bath recipe.
