When you have sensitive skin, you can go round and round trying to find something that works for you. Sensitive skin can be painful when exposed to various weather conditions and downright frustrating. You are forever battling inflamed red and tight feeling skin, scaly patches and flaky dry skin.
Sensitive skin care is a costly experience when you consider the amount of sensitive skin products you have purchased and found them absolutely useless. Sometimes these products will even make your skin worse.
Just because your skin is sensitive doesn’t mean you should not use cleanser however. Use the following recipes to make a facial mask that can work for your sensitive skin.
Yogurt Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
To create this mask, you will need 1 cup of natural plain yogurt and half a cup of oatmeal. You mix the ingredients together to form a paste. You apply to your face and let it stay there for up to 15 minutes. Rinse it off with water, dry your face and apply some moisturizer.
Oatmeal Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
You can mix an egg white with one-third cup of oatmeal to form a paste and apply to your skin. This is a great recipe for cleansing and firming sensitive skin. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Dry your face and apply some moisturizer.
Kaolin Clay Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
To create this mask, you will need 3 tablespoons of Kaolin Clay (also called French White Clay), 2 tablespoons of rose water and 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey).
Mix all the ingredients together to form a paste and apply to your face and neck. Rinse off after 15 minutes, dry your face and then put on some moisturizer.
Kaolin clay gently exfoliates, cleanses and detoxifies and is very soothing for sensitive skin. This mask can help you to get glowing skin and is also good for dry skin.
Cinnamon Nutmeg Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
To make this mask, you will need 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey), 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Mix the ingredients together until they form a chocolate-colored paste, adjusting as you go until you get the consistency you like. Let sit for about 30 minutes, and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Dry you face and apply some moisturizer.
This face mask can be used to treat acne. It can be used twice a week but with caution. The benefits are got from all three products. Honey offers antimicrobial benefits and can fight acne caused by microbes. It is also soothing to the skin and is a natural antioxidant.
Nutmeg reduces inflammation and redness caused by acne. It can dry out acne and is a safe topical acne treatment similar to salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Cinnamon can dry out pimples and plump the skin by bringing oxygen and blood to the surface and unclog and open pores by removing excess oil from the skin’s surface.
Pear Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
To prepare this mask, you first take a pear, cut it into 2 halves, and then mash half of the pear. Next you add in 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey) and 1 tablespoon of buttermilk.
Add some oats if the consistency is too watery. Apply to face and leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Dry your face and apply some moisturizer.
Pears are naturally high in vitamins C and K, as well as nutrients such as copper—all of which act as antioxidants to protect our cells from damage from free radicals. This means when you use pear to prepare a face mask, it can help you to treat aging skin.
Buttermilk is loaded with beta hydroxy acid, or BHA, a natural exfoliant. Oil-soluble BHA penetrates the surface of your skin and pores for some serious cleansing and exfoliating action, sloughing away the dead stuff to leave your skin soft and smooth.
Coconut Facial Mask for Sensitive Skin
To create this mask, you will need 1 Tablespoon of Pure (not light) Coconut Milk,1 Tablespoon of Oat Flour and3 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil.
You have to make sure the coconut milk is at room temperature before creating the face mask. Combine all three ingredients in a mixing bowl until you have a soft paste that is blended well together.
Apply the face mask to your freshly cleansed skin. Allow the face mask to sit on your skin for up to 15 minutes to allow the pores to soak up all the moisture from the milk to hydrate the skin at its deepest levels. Rinse off the face mask with lukewarm water then pat the skin dry with a soft hand towel. Then apply some moisturizer.
Pure coconut milk is simply amazing for sensitive or dry skin. It is also loaded with antioxidants to leave your skin feeling clean, fresh, and rejuvenated.
Oat flour will calm irritated and inflamed skin, easing any pain and discomfort while gently removing cellular build-up (dry skin). When cellular build-up is removed, pores become unclogged of impurities like acne-causing bacteria and excess oil.
Lavender essential oil is beneficial for many reasons including its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It heals acne and open wounds effectively and gently, while minimizing scarring.
