It is estimated that more than half of women have never experienced orgasm and do not know what it is. What is orgasm? How to have orgasms? What are the ways to achieve orgasm? Read on below.

Orgasm is an intense sensation that occurs at the climax of sexual excitement that is accompanied by rhythmic muscle contractions and intense pleasure. This is followed by the release of sexual tension.

Some women are not able to achieve orgasm because of the lack of sex hormones and related medical problems. Low hormone levels and poor blood circulation to the sexual organ can prevent women from reaching orgasm. Certain medical conditions, medications or surgeries can cause reduced blood circulation to the clitoris. If you are not able to reach orgasm, the first step is to have a physical evaluation to make sure that there is no medical problem.

Many women do not achieve orgasm during sexual intercourse. This occurs because the location of the clitoris is not conducive to orgasm during the sexual act. For women who are in this situation, it can be quite pressurizing if their partners are disappointed with this.

The best way for a woman to reach orgasm is to make her have it on her own. If you can have orgasm by yourself, you will be able to reach orgasm during sex. Here are a few ways you can reach orgasm by yourself.

(1)   Strengthen your vaginal muscles

One of the main reasons why women are having a hard time in reaching orgasm is because of weak pubococcygeal (PC, or pelvic floor muscles). These are the muscles surrounding the vaginal opening and are the same muscles a woman uses to hold in her urine.

Why do stronger muscles give you more sensations during sex? The answer lies in the deeply buried nerve endings in the vagina. It takes strong pressure to stimulate these nerves. If the muscle is lax, the penis will have limited contact with your vaginal walls. But if the muscles are taut, the penis will be able to rub strongly against the walls, stimulating the surrounding tissues and giving the highly sensitive clitoris another boost.

Stronger PC muscles will allow more blood to flow to the pelvic region during arousal, making it easier to have an orgasm. A woman with strong PC muscles can clamp down on the penis by contracting them, which will result in greater sexual pleasure for herself and her partner, and probably increase her ability to ejaculate. A woman can strengthen her PC muscles by doing pelvic floor exercises also known as Kegel exercises. These exercises will help to increase the tightness of your vaginal walls. Exercising your PC muscles can take as little as five minutes and doing it three times a day.

To work the PC muscles, try to stop and then release your urine a few times. Put one finger inside your vagina and squeeze on it as if you are trying to stop urine from flowing out. If you don’t feel tightness on your finger, you are squeezing the right pelvic muscle. Kegel exercises sometimes involve inserting small weights inside the vagina. By using heavier weights, over time, the pelvic muscles can become stronger and tighter, giving you more control over the amount of pressure with which you can squeeze.

(2)   Self pleasure

This is a good way to discover for yourself what pleasures you. You can do this by rubbing or stroking the clitoris and other areas of the vulva with your hands and fingers and steadily increasing the pace of manual stimulation. Besides your hands, you can run or spray water (from the shower or faucet) on your genitals.

To get more intense and prolonged stimulation, you can use a vibrator to stimulate the clitoris and nearby area. Some improvised toys such as cucumbers, brush handles, mirror handles, bananas work great too. Also consider trying a penis-shaped sex toy as some women are more sensitive to vaginal stimulation, or need a combination of clitoral and vaginal stimulations. Other women enjoy anal stimulation so you can consider experimenting with anal toys. If your nipples are sensitive, you may want to try nipple clamps.
