Try it: Put your middle fingers together between your eyebrows, then apply pressure to the outer corners of your eyes using your index fingers. Look upward as you squint your eyes, then relax and repeat the process 6 times. To finish, squeeze your eyes shut for 10 seconds, then relax.

Face Exercises Tip #3 – Diminish laugh lines.

Strengthening the orbicularis oculi muscle (which, in addition to surrounding the eye, runs around the mouth) helps reduce laugh lines and firm up cheeks and jowls.

Try it: Cover your teeth with your lips and make an O with your mouth. Keeping teeth covered, smile as widely as you can; release and repeat 6 times.

Hold the smile (with teeth covered) and place your index finger on your chin. Tilt your head back and move your jaw up and down. Repeat twice; relax.

Firming the platysma muscle (located under the chin) tightens and lifts skin to reduce a double chin and turkey wattle.

Try it: Place your fingers on the top of your neck (just under your chin) and lightly stroke the skin down while tilting your head back. Relax and repeat twice.

Lavender essential oil is extracted from the flowers of the Lavender plant through distillation. The plant has a distinctive scent and it has traditionally been used to manufacture perfumes.  Today lavender essential oil has many uses including in cosmetics such as lotions and soaps as well as in gels and for aromatherapy.


Lavender essential oil has many health benefits and is particularly good for skin care. In fact the name of the plant comes from the Latin lavare which means to wash.


Lavender was also commonly used by the Romans as an addition to bath water not only because of its scent but because it was believed to restore the skin. A few drops of the oil mixed with water provide an effective washing agent that has considerable benefits for skin as outlined below.


Lavender has many benefits for the skin because lavender essential oil has natural antifungal and antiseptic properties. It can be used to treat various skin conditions such as wrinkles, acne and psoriasis. Lavender oil has a soothing, anti-inflammatory action and can be used for various other skin conditions such as dermatitis, eczema, boils and carbuncles.


Lavender essential oil is also excellent for treating inflammations and heals cuts, wounds, sunburn and other burns since as it aids in the formation of scar tissue. Treating burns is best done with Lavender oil in the form of a cream or lotion: it helps the skin to heal faster because of its cicatrising properties.

To get relief from tight and sore muscles, massage the painful parts with a lavender essential oil mix. To prepare the mix, add 10 ml of carrier oil like jojoba oil to 5 drops of lavender oil. You can stop a nosebleed by putting a drop of Lavender essential oil on a tissue and wrapping it around a small chip of ice.  Push the tissue covered ice chip up under the middle of the top lip to the base of the nose and hold as long as comfortable or until the bleeding stops (do not freeze the lip or gum).


You can put 1 to 2 drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue or handkerchief and inhale it whenever required for instant relief from respiratory disorders like bronchitis, throat infections, and asthma especially when asthma is associated with emotional trauma. Lavender oil mixed with lemon is used in vaporizers and humidifiers.


You can add one drop of lavender oil to water and give the person suffering from fever a sponge bath with this water to reduce fever. This remedy is safe for children and adults.


You can apply lavender essential oil as needed to areas of chapped lips in the dry winter season to relieve dry, burning, chapped lips and to promote healing and moisturizing effects.


Lavender essential oil can triple as a bactericide, moisturizer and reliever of pain, itching and dryness caused by dry, cold winter conditions. Try a few drops as needed and rub into the chapped areas of the fingers and hands.


Lavender essential oil is also good for our hair. You can rub several drops of lavender oil into the scalp to help eliminate dandruff.


Alopecia areata is an auto-immune dysfunction where the hair falls out, often in clumps or patches. In one study documented by the University of Maryland Medical Center, 86 alopecia areata patients went through a split test. Both subjects massaged the scalp daily for 7 months, whereas only half used essential lavender oil during the massage. The experimental group that used Lavender oil reported significant hair re-growth over the control group that simply used scalp massage alone.


Organic lavender essential oil can also be used in diffusers that scent your room. They might use a candle, a light bulb, or electricity to heat the essential oils.


Light bulb rings are very easy to use. You simply place a metal or ceramic hollow ring on top of a bulb that is used in a lamp, place a few drops of oil in the ring, and then turn the light on. The heat from the bulb releases the fragrance.


Candle diffusers offer a basin for the oil, with a candle below to provide the heat. Electric diffusers are useful for scenting an entire room, and often come with small fans built in to spread the fragrance.


Lavender essential oil works much the same as tea tree oil when it comes to disinfectant properties and also lends its aromatic benefits of stress relief and relaxation, as well as anti-inflammatory benefits, relief of respiratory conditions, headaches and migraines, to name just a few.


You just rub 2 to 3 drops of lavender oil in your cupped palms, and then use the inhalation method to draw the scent all the way into your amygdala gland (the emotional warehouse) in your brain to calm the mind.


You can also rub lavender essential oil on the feet, temples, wrists (or anywhere such as the pillow) for an immediate calming effect on the body and help you to sleep well. In fact, you can alleviate the symptoms of motion sickness by placing a drop of Lavender oil on end of tongue, behind the ears or around the navel.


To relief menstrual cramp, besides using very warm compresses, you can also apply lavender essential oil around the abdomen while inhaling the diffuse vapors to help calm and relax the muscles, mind and body for less severe cramping.


When you draw a bath, you can add 8 drops of lavender oil to the bath along with the bath salts. This bath is very helpful for relaxing aching muscles and will calm the body. You can also add 5 drops of lavender oil in a bowl and dip your hands or feet in this solution. This will relax tired feet and soothe sore hands.


You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil in a nice cup of hot tea which can help as a nice wind-down drink after dinner or with a decaffeinated tea before bed. It can also be used with a nice Chamomile tea or “Sleepy time” tea before bed or when trying to relax.


As you can see, Lavender essential oil can uplift your life (and mood), heal and entice in a variety of ways. It’s a great secret weapon to have on hand at all times!


One thing you have to take note is not all lavender oil is the same! Please be aware that when you buy lavender oil at spas, health food stores and even online, most are not therapeutic grade!  Young Living lavender oil is.  Does your lavender essential oil bottle say NOT for internal use???  If so, throw it away!  It is not pure lavender essential oil.  Pure lavender essential oil is edible!!

The next is to add carrier oil to the exfoliant to form a paste. One of the great choices is the apricot kernel oil because this oil is gentle which makes it suitable for all skin types. Because of its skin softening, moisturizing properties and is therefore highly recommended for skin that is dry, irritated or has prematurely aged.


You can also use sweet almond oil which is considered to be good all-purpose carrier oil and is moderately priced. But it a little heavier than other oils and may stain the sheets if you use it in massage.


Now you mix 1/3 cup of apricot kernel oil or sweet almond oil with one cup of sea salt to form a paste. The last thing to do is to add 5-6 drop of lavender essential oil to the paste and you can now use it in the bathroom.


Homemade Lavender Body Scrub Recipe 2# – For All Sensitive Skin


Some people’s skin may not react well with salt.  In this case, you can use sugar which feels slightly gentler on your skin than salt. You can use either brown or white sugar. I prefer brown, because it smells yummy, especially if you mix it with a little lavender essential oil.


You will mix 1/3 cup of apricot kernel oil or sweet almond oil with one cup of brown sugar to form a paste and then add 5-6 drops of essential oil.


Homemade Lavender Body Scrub Recipe 3# – For Moisturizing Your Skin


This recipe uses oatmeal instead of sugar or salt, which is the gentlest of the exfoliants. It is an emollient, meaning that it softens and hydrates your skin. People have used it for decades as an effective home remedy for dry, itchy skin. Unlike salt and sugar, you can use it with a bit of water instead of adding in carrier oil.


So you can add in just enough of water to one cup of oatmeal to form a paste. You can now add 5-6 drops of lavender essential oil to the paste. This is probably the simplest and most affordable homemade body scrub.


If you have a little more time and money to create your homemade lavender body scrub, you can try the following recipes.


Homemade Lavender Body Scrub Recipe 4# – For Normal Skin


You mix 1/3 cup of sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil with 1 cup of brown sugar to form a paste. You will next add to the paste 10 drops of lavender essential oil, 6 drops of geranium essential oil and 4 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil.


Homemade Lavender Body Scrub Recipe 5# – For Oily Skin


You mix 1/3 cup of sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil with 1 cup of brown sugar to form a paste. You will next add to the paste the following essential oils: 8 drops of sandalwood oil, 6 drops of lemon oil and 6 drops of lavender oil.


Homemade Lavender Body Scrub Recipe 6# – For Sunburn Skin


This recipe will add in lavender hydrosol. Lavender hydrosol is a by-product of the steam distillation process used to extract lavender essential oil from the lavender flowers.


It shares the same wonderful healing and anti-bacterial properties as lavender essential oil, but is produced in greater volume and therefore less expensive than the oils. It is suitable for all skin types. It is helpful for delicate and aging skin. It provides a healing effect for cuts, wounds, sunburn, bites and heat rash.


To a cup of brown sugar you mix it with 1/3 cup of sweet almond oil or apricot kernel oil and 6 teaspoons of lavender hydrosol to form a paste. You then add 5-6 drops of lavender oil.


To apply the mixture from any of the above recipes, use your fingers to rub in a circular motion into damp skin. Massage for 30 seconds and then rinse with warm water. Pat (don’t rub) dry with a clean towel and follow immediately with an oil-free moisturizer or lotion.
