High Cholesterol Causes This Deadly Cancer

High cholesterol has mostly (and controversially) been linked to heart attack and stroke.

But a new study, published in the journal Cell Stem Cell, proves it can actually cause something much worse.

That is, the second most deadly type of cancer, only behind lung cancer in the number of people it kills. It spreads easily to lymph nodes and surrounding muscle tissue if not picked up early enough.

What Can Be The Effects of High Cholesterol Level on Your Digestive System?

Cholesterol is particularly abundant in cancer cells and many studies have indicated that high cholesterol may contribute to the development of intestinal cancers.

But why does this happen?

To find out, the researchers first gave a group of mice a high cholesterol diet to elevate their cholesterol.

After doing this successfully, they examined cell activity in the mice’s intestines, noticing that stem cells divided and multiplied so fast that tumors could form 100 times faster than in the intestines of mice with normal cholesterol.

In a second group of mice, they modified a gene that regulates phospholipids, the main type of fat in cell membranes, so that cells would produce an excessive amount of cholesterol on their own.

As this group’s cells made more cholesterol and their cholesterol rose, the stem cells in their intestines also multiplied much faster.

In both groups, the linings of their digestive tracts thickened and their intestines actually grew longer to accommodate the excessive cell growth.

This caused the formation of cancerous tumors in their intestines and colons as a result of the high cholesterol level.

What Are Health Risks If You Slept Less Than 6 Hours?

If you’ve high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood sugar, you’ll be twice as likely to die early if you skimp on this one activity.

No, it’s not exercises, eating healthy or taking your medications.

In fact, it’s one pleasant activity that most of us just don’t allow ourselves to indulge in enough.

What Can Happen to Your Health If You Slept Less Than 6 Hours?

Metabolic syndrome is a fancy way of saying you have the risk factors for modern lifestyle diseases such as high cholesterol, high blood sugar, high blood pressure etc… Leading to diabetes, heart attack and stroke.

American researchers have just published a study in the Journal of the American Heart Association revealing that people suffering metabolic syndrome need to sleep for more than six hours per night.

They picked 1,344 adults with an average age of 49 who were studied by a different study called the Penn State Adult Cohort.

These people all slept in the sleep laboratory for one night so the researchers could calculate their typical sleep duration.

22 of them died during the follow-up period of 16.6 years for which they were observed.

Compared to those without metabolic syndrome, those with this condition who slept more than six hours were 1.49 times more likely to die of heart disease or stroke. That is not surprising, as we know how unhealthy this condition is.

The interesting finding, however, was that those who slept less than 6 hours were 2.1 times more likely to die of heart disease or stroke than people who were not suffering from metabolic syndrome.

It is not just death from heart disease and stroke that is the problem.

People with metabolic syndrome who slept less than 6 hours were 1.99 times more likely to die from any condition than the healthy volunteers were.

Okay, you’ve heard it a million times that this causes high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and what else!

But then came a movement backing this up as actually very healthy if done right.

So, who are we to believe?

What Really Cause High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, High Blood Sugar?

A new British study published in The JAMA Network Journals, dug deeper—all the way to gene level—to find the answer for us. And it may surprise you.

Body mass index (BMI) calculates how you measure up for your weight according to your height. It tells you if you are underweight, normal, overweight or obese.

Makes sense. A 6 feet man weighing 180 pounds is considered normal weight, whereas a 5 feet man of the same weight would be obese.

The problem is that according to this measurement, many top athletes would be obese because they’ve so much muscle.

This has caused many people to disregard BMI as a good indicator of high blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar risk.

What Does BMI Got to Do with High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, High Blood Sugar?

So, researchers took a little different approach.

You see, there are specific genes that are more common among people with high BMI and are therefore considered as a cause of high BMI.

So, the researchers dug into data of 120,000 people and compared those with BMI genes to those without those genes.

And what would you think… yes, those with the BMI genes were much more likely to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar.

This again boosts high BMI as a good indicator tool of a risk factor. But not an absolute.

Even if you have high BMI and even if you hold the genes that cause high BMI, there are still many things you can do to keep healthy.

How Rotten Eggs Cure Just About Everything (I’m not joking) - What does the cure for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, heart attack and dementia have to do with rotten eggs? Well, rotten eggs are a rich source of hydrogen sulfide. In fact, the stinky intolerable smell in the rotten eggs is due to this gas! Researchers have discovered that hydrogen sulfide can help to reverse mitochondrial damage which is central to preventing certain diseases.

Pretty weird.

Here’s a rotten, smelly food that’ll help cure you of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, heart attack and dementia (and even more).
Call it an all-in-one package that could lead to a healthier, more disease-free life.

A team of researchers from the University of Exeter have developed an interesting compound called “AP39” that has been found to have a protective effect on mitochondria.

Let us first look at what mitochondria are. We know that energy is needed for all activities and our very existence. Mitochondria are the organelles inside our cells that are responsible for producing energy through a series of processes.

These organelles determine which cells will survive and which will die, and they play an important role in inflammation. Mitochondria power the cells in the blood vessels too.

Considering how important it is, it is not surprising that any damage to mitochondria can result in a plethora of diseases—stroke, heart disease, dementia, diabetes and arthritis. Mitochondrial damage can also speed up the aging process.

Now the cells have a way to reverse mitochondrial damage which is central to preventing certain diseases.

This is what happens: When the cells experience stress and the mitochondria get affected, the cells draw in certain enzymes that can produce hydrogen sulfide, which humans produce in small amounts during digestion. Hydrogen sulfide helps repair damaged mitochondria and restore its vital function. In fact, the compound AP39 developed by the scientists delivers this gas to the cells to keep them alive. This could have future implications in the prevention of strokes, arthritis, heart disease, among other things, the researchers say.

This research is interesting but preliminary. While no conclusions can be made at this time, may this news let you wince just a little bit less the next time you’re assaulted by a rotten eggs smell.

What does this all have to do with rotten eggs? Well, rotten eggs are a rich source of hydrogen sulfide. In fact, the stinky intolerable smell in the rotten eggs is due to this gas!

Does this mean you should stuff up on rotten eggs to keep the mitochondria ticking? It’s not advisable at least until there is enough evidence! Until then keep yourself fit with healthy food and exercises!
