Bodies are constantly contaminated with different toxins from the environment, diet, and even medicine. Toxins are naturally flushed out by bodies through organic processes such as sweat and bowel movements.

However, most of the time these processes aren’t enough to achieve true cleansing benefits. Our bodies become accustomed to these daily toxins and the harm that builds up daily over time is often unnoticed.

Detoxing and cleansing programs are used to flush the body from these toxins that keep us from being our healthiest. Thus, detox power in juicing and smoothie recipes are used to boost the body’s ability to get rid of everyday poisons.

Metabolism boosting cleanses are also effective for achieving more radiant and glowing skin, hair and eyes. Drinking green smoothies can make you look better too! Yes, you heard us right! By drinking green smoothies over a period of time, you will notice that your skin is glowing; your wrinkles are visibly lesser making you look younger too!

Smoothies provide added nutritional value to our meals and fuel for our bodies. They can also be used as a meal replacement for someone hoping to shed fat. Smoothies really are a great option for weight-loss because many recipes use high fiber vegetables and fruits that help fill you up without adding fat and calories. The beauty of including smoothies in your weight loss plan is that you can expect to never feel deprived because the creamy texture and high fiber will leave you feeling full for periods.

Finally, if you are a weight loss enthusiast, green smoothies on daily basis can become your magic potion. They wash away the toxins from your body, and ultimately help you shed those extra pounds.

Here are my favourite glowing skin smoothie recipes

Glowing Skin Smoothie Recipe #1

Needed ingredients are 1 cup non-fat or low-fat vanilla soy milk, 1 cup frozen raspberries, 1 medium ripe banana and ½ cup orange juice with one ice cube or 1 tablespoon frozen orange juice concentrate
To prepare this smoothie, combine all ingredients in blender. Cover and blend until smooth. This drink is great for your skin because it contains nutrients such as Vitamin C, antioxidants and flavonoids.

Citrus fruits such as orange contain high levels of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, which is essential to a good complexion because it is responsible for your body’s collagen formation. Healthy collagen keeps your face free from wrinkles and sagging. Vitamin C which is also an antioxidant may help to prevent destruction of vitamin E, which protects your cell membranes
Raspberries are a good source of collagen-forming vitamin C, and raspberries have a small amount of vitamin A. Vitamins A and C act as antioxidants that protect your skin cells from the damage of free radicals, which contribute to the aging of your skin.

Glowing Skin Smoothie Recipe #2

The needed ingredients for this recipe are 1 medium ripe peach, sliced,
2 tablespoons chopped avocado, 1/3 cup unsweetened frozen strawberries, 3/4 cup fat-free plain yogurt, 3 tablespoons 100% pomegranate juice, 1 teaspoon grapeseed oil and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
To prepare this smoothie, place all the ingredients in a blender. Puree about 15 seconds or until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve with a tall straw.

I like the avocado in this recipe because it is loaded with vitamins C, E and K, which are essential for healthy skin. It may also help reduce dryness and irritation. In addition to all of those beautifying benefits, avocados also contain glutathione, a substance that specifically blocks intestinal absorption of certain fats that cause oxidative stress—the damage to our skin due to environment, diet, alcohol, UV rays or smoking.

Glowing Skin Smoothie Recipe #3

The needed ingredients for this recipe are 1/4 cup frozen or fresh blueberries, 1/4 cup frozen or fresh raspberries, 1/4 cup frozen or fresh strawberries, 1/4 cup kale and 1 cup of water
To prepare this smoothie, place all the ingredients in a high power blender. Whirl until completely smooth. Serve immediately and sip your way to berry-induced bliss.

Berries bring on big beautifying benefits for your skin. Berries are full of antioxidant compounds that neutralize damaging free radicals that lead to skin cell damage and premature skin aging. Plus, they’re loaded with hydrating water and are chock-full of vitamin C, which is crucial for a healthy complexion. As if that’s not enough, these colorful superfoods help the body manufacture collagen, which makes skin soft, smooth and youthful.

Glowing Skin Smoothie Recipe #4

The needed ingredients are 1 sliced papaya with seeds removed, 1 sliced large peach with seeds removed, ½ cup of milk, and juice of 1 lime. To prepare this smoothie, put all of the ingredients into a blender and process until smooth.

Papaya is a natural exfoliating tonic. It leaves your skin spotless with its high vitamin A content. With moisture rich peaches, you can say goodbye to dry skin. You can happily bypass moisturizing creams if you include peaches in your diet.

Glowing Skin Smoothie Recipe #5

The needed ingredients are 6 fresh strawberries, juice of 1 lemon, ½ teaspoon lemon zest, ½ cup of cream or non-fat milk, 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

To prepare this smoothie, blend together the ice cream, lemon juice and the berries. Adjust the consistency by adding cream or milk. Stir in lemon zest.

Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is great for the skin. Berries are as packed in antioxidants as fruits. Strawberries are great for overall health. The antioxidants in strawberries can work wonders for rejuvenating your skin.

Own Foot Soak At Home Recipe #1

You mix the salt and baking soda together in a large, wide, stainless steel bowl, making sure to break up any clumps. Then you add the oils and mix everything together well. If you’re not sure where to get these essential oils, you can get them online from Mountain Rose Herbs. Epsom salts help sooth sore, swollen feet. The salt helps reduce swelling by absorbing the excess moisture out of your feet.

You mix the salt, baking soda and lime zest in a bowl together first before adding in the essential oils. You can then start to use this by adding the mixture into a basin of hot water and soaking your feet in it.

Epsom Salt will soothe aches, eliminate smells and softens up rough skin. Baking Soda is good for exfoliating, leaving your skin soft and smooth and helps eliminate odors.

Lime is routinely used for its energizing, fresh and cheerful aroma. It is well known in folklore for its ability to cleanse, purify and renew the spirit and the mind. It is also said to be effective in cleansing the aura. Peppermint is uplifting and fresh.  The menthol induces a cooling sensation, and can help to cool you down, help ease tension headaches and muscular aches and pains.

The needed ingredients are ½ cup coarse sea salt, 1 cup of brewed coffee, and 5 drops of vanilla extract. Coffee uses in this soak should be grounded from fresh beans.  Don’t use instant coffee because it contains chemicals and flavoring agents which will reduce the beautifying effect of coffee.

Mix the coffee and salt together and finish off by adding 5 drops of vanilla extract. Add this into a basin of hot water and dip your feet into it for about 30 minutes. If the water cools, add 1-2 mugs of hot water to balance the temperature. When you are done, dry your feet with a soft towel.

You will only need 1/2 cup of rice water and 3 tablespoons of baking soda. Cook rice in enough water so you have rice water left, around 2-3 cups. Add baking soda into it, let it cool down a bit and dip your feet for as long as the water is warm. Dry your feet well when you are done.

This simple recipe is very effective for smelly feet as baking soda acts as an antibacterial agent preventing excessive perspiration. It kills the existing bacteria and prevents any possible infections. The rice water is good for improving micro-circulation.

5 DIY Chocolate Spa Recipes for a Romantic Rendezvous

5 DIY Chocolate Spa Recipes for a Romantic Rendezvous - Here are the 5 DIY chocolate spa recipes that you can try making at home to make your skin soft, glowing and beautiful
Click HERE to discover the secrets of glowing skin

To have a romantic time at home, convert your bedroom or bathroom into a lovebird den by choosing the best spa products, the right music, appropriate lighting, and foods that appeal to your senses.

The various items needed for home spa treatments include clean towels, massage oil, scented candles, salt scrub, and others. For food, you can choose dark chocolate, dessert wine, fresh fruit like grapes, and some of your favorite snacks that help release happy hormones in your body.

You can also make homemade facial cleansers and provide a lovely cleansing session to your spouse. Pampering yourself at least once a month can relieve your stress and rejuvenate your body inside out. So why not indulge your equally stress-relieving sweet tooth at the same time by having a chocolate spa treatment?

There are several spas and hotels nationwide that offer different spa treatments using chocolate as the main ingredient and theme. However, if you are on a budget and cannot afford to travel to the nearest chocolate spa, there are several homemade recipes you can use for your own chocolate spa treatment right in the privacy of your home.

Here are some of my favourite DIY chocolate spa recipes which you can use at the comfort of your home to pamper your body and your spouse’s.

DIY Chocolate Spa Recipe 1

What you need is 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 ounce honey, 1/2 cup conventional cocoa powder and 1 ounce vanilla extract.

Stir the sugar with 2 tablespoons of honey to create a uniform mixture. Spread the mixture throughout the body in rhythmic circular upward movements emphasizing on knees, elbows and soles. Rinse off with water.

Stir the chocolate, vanilla and the remaining honey to create a homogenous mixture. Apply mask all over the body and let stand 10 to 15 minutes. Remove with water.

DIY Chocolate Spa Recipe 2

Combine 4 tablespoons ground coffee with equal amount of cocoa powder. Add 8 tablespoon whole milk to the mixture. Stir until you have a smooth paste.

With fingers or a make-up wedge, spread the mixture over face and neck. You may also apply the mixture to other areas of the body where extra softness is needed.

Leave the mixture on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat your body dry.

DIY Chocolate Spa Recipe 3

Take a handful of cocoa butter and warm it until it melts, but don’t overheat it. Mix the cocoa butter with ¾ cup of white sugar and ¼ cup of dark brown sugar to form a paste. You can then start scrubbing by spreading this paste over your body.

DIY Chocolate Spa Recipe 4

You will need 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey) and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract.  Combine the honey, cocoa powder and vanilla extract in a bowl and mix well. Then you add 1-2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil into the bowl, and stir the contents in the bowl to form a paste. If the paste is too thick, you can add a little bit more olive oil.

This step is optional. If you want, you can add 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil to add an extra moisturizer to the chocolate body scrub. Lastly, you can either add 3 drops of lavender oil to make a chocolate lavender scrub or add 3 drop of essential orange oil to make a chocolate orange scrub.

You wet the parts of your body you want to exfoliate with the scrub. Hands, elbows and feet all benefit from a cocoa scrub because the skin on these areas is often dry. Gently rub the scrub onto the area using a circular motion. Rinse the area with warm water.

DIY Chocolate Spa Recipe 5

You will need ½ cup of cocoa powder, 6 tablespoons of whole cream milk, 3 tablespoons of raw organic honey (or manuka honey), 3 tablespoons of ground oatmeal, and 2 tablespoons of ground almonds, 3 drops of sweet almond oil and 3 drops of lavender oil.

You mix cocoa powder, milk, honey, oatmeal and ground almonds to form a paste and then you add in sweet almond and lastly lavender oil. You can now start scrubbing, applying the paste on your face, neck and body. Keep it there for 15 minutes before you rinse off.

Can You Have Sex During Pregnancy And Is It Safe?

The Secrets Of Blissful Relationship

Is it safe to have sex during pregnancy? When is it not safe? In the following paragraphs, you will get answers to these 2 questions and even more.

Is Sex During Pregnancy Harmful?

Sex is considered safe during all stages of a normal, low-risk pregnancy. This applies even at the advanced stage of pregnancy because the baby is fully protected by a thin-walled bag that holds the fetus and the surrounding fluid. The cervix is also protected against infection by a thick layer of mucus. This is also no chance for the penis to be in contact with the fetus during sex. If you are still in doubt, talk to your doctor.

Though it is safe but one thing for sure, sex is never going to be the same like before pregnancy. Many expectant mothers will experience fluctuations in sexual desire during pregnancy. During the first 3 months after pregnancy, many women can have symptoms such as fatigue, nausea and breast tenderness.

Generally, fatigue and nausea subsides during the 4th to 6th month. Some women may find that their desire for sex during this period going up again as a result of increased blood flow to the sexual organs and breasts. During the advanced stage of pregnancy from the 7th to 9th month, the sexual desire will go down again. A large abdomen, increased fatigue and/or back pain can cause her to lose interest in sex.

Being the husband, you should be considerate and understanding about the changes and inconveniences/discomfort she experiences. Adjustments have to be made and you have to accept the fact that you cannot have sex as often as you want. You and your partner have to explore other ways to satisfy the need for intimacy, such as kissing, caressing and holding each other.

You may need to experiment with other positions for sex to find those that are the most comfortable to your partner. The positions you can try are –

(a)   Woman On Top

This position allows her to control the pace and depth of penetration. This position works well throughout pregnancy and also at the advanced stage of pregnancy.

(b)   Side lying

Both will lay on the side (with her adjusting one of her legs) either facing each other or the guy behind her penetrating in this position. This creates no pressure on the abdomen and allows for a shallow penetration. The entering from behind position can be used during all stages of pregnancy. But the face-to-face position may not be easy for the later stage of pregnancy.

© Doggie

This position is good because there is a lack of direct pressure on the abdomen. As her belly gets larger, she can actually rest the abdomen on the bed. Despite this, some women may still feel uncomfortable with this position with the weight of the abdomen bearing down on her.

All of the above positions also allow for manual stimulation of the clitoris either by herself or her partner. They also prevent the expectant mother from lying on her back, which is not recommended after the 4th month of pregnancy.

When And What Is Not Safe?

When the doctor advises against it, then you should abstain from sex. It will be risky if she has a history of premature birth or there is a threat of miscarriage. Sex should be avoided when there are signs indicating the risk of pre-term labor such as premature uterine contractions, unexplained vaginal bleeding, and discharge (such as leakage of amniotic fluid) or cramping. Sex will be risky when part of the placenta is covering the cervix, a condition called placenta previa.

When giving her oral sex, avoid blowing air into the vagina. Blowing air can cause an air embolism (a blockage of a blood vessel by an air bubble), which can be potentially fatal for both the mother and the baby. It is better to opt for manual stimulation for precautionary reason.
