One of my good friends likes to say his hair is not going gray… it’s just running out of paint.

But scientifically speaking, he’s really not that far off!

As we age, our hair actually runs out of the pigment melanin, the same cell that gives skin its color. Each hair follicle has a finite amount of melanin cells. As they run out, the hair slowly turns gray, then finally white when there is no pigment left at all.

But you’d think by now we’d have discovered a more effective way to keep hair color than getting it chemically treated a few times a year. While there’s no one-size-fits-all, clinically-proven regimen, there are many theories and studies that have shown promise for prevention of premature graying, further graying, and even gray hair reversal.

I’m not sure it’s possible to prevent gray hair forever, but diagnosing one of the following causes of one or more of these natural tricks and treatments could help keep your locks in high definition color for longer.

3 Major Risk Factors for Premature Graying

Smoking

Smoking has been known to increase the rate of graying hair. One study published in the Indian Dermatology Online Journal showed that smokers were a whopping 2.5 times more likely to experience premature hair graying (graying before age 30) than non-smokers. If you haven’t quit smoking yet, it’s definitely time!

Vitamin B Deficiency

The hair care company Pantene Pro-V knew their stuff when they formulated their shampoos and conditioners. Vitamin B deficiency, especially pantothenic acid (B5) and B12, can cause low melanin production.

This deficiency can also lead to pernicious anemia. Anemics may also suffer from premature hair graying.

Untreated Thyroid Condition

Low thyroid hormone – or hypothyroidism – can also cause premature hair graying, according to Dr. Lawrence Wood, head of the Thyroid Foundation of America.

9 Natural Treatments for Gray Hair

Treating your gray hair may be as easy as quitting a cigarette habit, taking a vitamin B complex, or getting tested for anemia and hypothyroidism. (If you suspect you’re anemic or hypothyroid, you should get tested regardless of gray hair!)

There are also several natural options for maintaining or restoring hair color, including…

  • Henna extract, which treats gray hair naturally by combining your hair’s proteins with its reddish-tinted molecules. It’s like hair color without the harsh chemicals, hefty salon bill, or huge time commitment.

  • Amla fruit extracthas 30 times more vitamin C than an orange. It fights free radical damage on your hair’s color cells (melanocytes), allowing them to continue producing color for longer.

  • Red hibiscus extracthas been said to fight grays at the root – while promoting faster hair growth.

  • Kudzu extractwas recently shown to reduce formation of new gray hairs over a six-month period. There were no adverse effects reported.

You can also get double the bang for your buck by using your daily supplements for treating unwanted grays.

  • Vitamin C fights oxidative stress in your body, which can help increase melanin and overall hair production. It also boosts collagen production (more on that in a moment).

  • Vitamin B12 is a critical building block for healthy, colored hair. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause gray hair even in children, according to Stanford Med’s Dr. Alan Green.

  • Vitamin D helps grow healthy hair – and there are tons of anecdotal evidence to support it can actually reverse gray hair.

  • Vitamin K2, or menaquinone, is a fat-soluble vitamin. Studies show 90% of the western world is deficient in K2. Low K2 causes kidney stress, with the result often appearing in facial wrinkling and decreased health and color of hair.

  • Collagen makes up 25% of the protein in our bodies. Though it’s commonly ascribed to healthy skin and nails, hair follicles require plenty of collagen to produce thick, healthy hairs – and plenty of pigment to maintain their natural color.

It’s tricky to find a good quality supplement with these vitamins and collagen.

Strangely enough, I recently realized the Healthy Back Institute’s Super Joint Support supplement has them all. Now, it was formulated to support healthy joints, while reducing stiffness and pain in the process.

Now you can get double the bang for your buck… enjoying healthier, less painful and more limber joints while keeping gray hair at bay. It’s a two-for-one punch, all in one capsule!

It could take up to six months to notice a difference in your hair when taking supplements. But you’ll notice a near instant decrease in stiffness and pain in your joints – a nice bonus while waiting for your hair to catch up!

How to cure grey hair naturally by boosting your supply of melanin?

The best way to cure grey hair is by providing the body with all the ingredients that it needs to ensure that it has an adequate supply of melanin, as this is the key compound that can prevent or reverse the graying of hair.

There are several different things that may cause grey hair. Many people believe that wisdom is the source of grey hair. While it is undeniably true that people get wiser the further into life they get, it isn’t the scientific reason your hair greys. You definitely don’t have to give up your wisdom in order to have your natural colour back.

As you have already known melanin is a dark pigment in our body that gives the skin and hair its natural colour. Therefore in my opinion the best way to cure grey hair is by providing the body with all the ingredients that it needs to ensure that it has an adequate supply of melanin, as this is the key compound that can prevent or reverse the greying of hair.

One of the most useful foods to boost your supply of melanin is black strap molasses. So what exactly are black strap molasses? Black strap molasses are extracted from sugar cane. Molasses is a liquid by-product of sugar cane obtained from the process of refining sugar cane into table sugar.

To get the black strap molasses, the juice that is extracted from the sugar cane is boiled to let the sugar in the juice to crystallize. The sugar is extracted and the liquid residue is actually the molasses. To get the more concentrated form of molasses, the liquid residue needs to boil at least 2 additional times.

Blackstrap molasses is an excellent source of minerals including, iron, calcium, manganese, copper, magnesium, and potassium. Hair growth may be improved with your intake of nutrients. A great way to get these essential vitamins and minerals is to add blackstrap molasses to the diet.

Blackstrap Molasses is one of the easiest home remedies to reverse grey hair. Black strap molasses reverse the loss of pigment in the hair shaft so that when new hair grows, it regains your natural colour.

To reduce the greying of hair, consume two teaspoons of blackstrap every morning   which can provide you with up to 20% of your daily requirements of calcium, magnesium, copper, manganese, iron, potassium and other valuable minerals and nutrients.

Black strap molasses also contain copper which is perhaps one of the most instrumental nutrients that help boost supply of melanin and prevent the greying of hair. When two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses is taken daily, the results will be appeared in 3 to 6 months.

Blackstrap molasses can also be added as a sweetener to all breakfast cereals, milk, tea or coffee and even desserts. To cookies and cakes, it imparts a distinctive flavour. To impart a rich colour and taste, chicken or turkey is also basted with molasses.

To cure grey hair, your body needs to have enough of vitamin B12. Insufficient vitamin B12 can have serious repercussions for your body, besides causing the greying of hair. If you have been tiring and depressed lately, this may be due to deficiency of vitamin B12. Too much of antibiotics, alcohol and smoking can interfere with the body’s ability to absorb vitamin B12 from what you eat.

Another aspect in treating grey hair is to use apple cider vinegar to rinse your hair. So what exactly is apple cider vinegar? Vinegar is a product of fermentation. This is a process in which sugars in a food are broken down by bacteria and yeast. In the first stage of fermentation, the sugars are turned into alcohol. Then, if the alcohol ferments further, you get vinegar and apple cider vinegar comes from sugar in the pulverized apples.

Instead of struggling to keep your grey hairs under wraps, use vinegar to keep them silvery and shiny! Mix 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with a quart of water, and use this mixture as a final rinse after shampooing and conditioning.

You can either spray the mixture on to your hair using a spray bottle, or just pour it over your hair. Let it sit a few minutes, and then rinse it out.  This treatment will make remove build-up that can make grey hair look dull.

Another substance that will also be very good for retarding grey hair is called the Indian gooseberry, which is traditionally known as amla. This is a fruit that has been used for centuries in India to supply a human body with a host of useful ingredients. Indian gooseberry can combat arthritis, but it is also known to be extremely beneficial in all sorts of hair treatment.

To effectively cure grey hair, a combination of the ingredients (black strap molasses, apple cider vinegar and others) will be used and the density of these ingredients will be change month by month to keep the body in balance so as to help the pigment producing cells in the hair to produce more melanin.

What Causes Premature Grey Hair?

The best strategy to prevent premature grey hair is to ensure that your body has enough of the ingredients needed to produce melanin so that the roots of your hair will produce melanin. This is an excellent way to ensure that your hair remains both its natural colour, as well as healthy, despite the normal and natural changes that come with age.

Greying of hair is supposed to be a sign of wisdom. It appears mostly at time when people reach forty or fifty or so. But these days, many people start to grow grey hair before they reach forty that we often wonder what really causes premature grey hair.

When we start to have grey hair is to a great extent due to our particular genetics and the characteristics that we inherit from our parents. If our parents had a lot of grey hair by the time they reached twenty five or thirty, then the chances are that you too will experience the same thing.

If this is the case, there is nothing much you can do about your genes – they are encoded in every cell of your body and there is no way you can change them.

Now, what you can do about your premature grey hair, if you have parents who experience greying hair at a young age, is to massively slow down the process of greying hair.

What I mean here is, while your hair will turn grey, obviously, perhaps you can slow down this process by around twenty years or so, which I think you will be glad to aim for.

Remember that while genetics is a factor in causing a person to have premature grey hair, there are all sorts of other factors involved, and one of the most important of these is subtle deficiencies in the diet.

Perhaps your hair has a tendency to turn grey prematurely, but there is no need to help that process along with a deficiency in your diet that accelerates it. Indeed, vitamin and mineral deficiencies will definitely affect the speed at which your hair greys.

You must be very careful not to let yourself be deficient in vitamin B12, iron and copper in your diet. The deficiencies of these are major issues that can accelerate the greying of hair.

With the right supplements to your diet, and with the right diet, of course, you will not only able to slow down this process of greying hair, but actually can reverse it for a period of a decade or two.

What causes hair to turn grey and change its colour?

The root component that colours your hair is the same component that colours your skin, which is, of course, melanin. People who have darker skin tend to have a greater amount of melanin in it and in their hair.

Despite this, hair still turns grey right across the entire spectrum of races. For example, an Asian will experience grey hair at around the same age as European does, even though his or her hair actually has more melanin in it.

What actually happens is that melanin production in the body seems to slow down or shut off altogether with the onset of age. Though your skin continues to produce melanin, but the cells that generate the hair seem to stop melanin production at a certain age, or they become erratic in producing melanin.

Therefore the best strategy to slow down the process of greying hair is to ensure that your body has enough of the ingredients needed to produce melanin so that the roots of your hair will produce melanin even if they become erratic.

This is an excellent way to ensure that your hair remains both its natural colour, as well as healthy, despite the normal and natural changes that come with age.

This is a strategy that does not involve dangerous hormonal treatments or the use of strong drugs, and therefore it is very safe. To find out more about this strategy, click on Premature Grey Hair No More.

Skin spots are not actually harmful. They are sometimes referred to as age or liver spots. Most of the time, this skin condition becomes an annoying problem only when a person is conscious about the way he or she looks, especially for those who desperately want a clean, spotless skin.

Skin spots that are brown in color can be caused by a multitude of reasons. Freckles, rashes, moles, pregnancy, hormones, age, exposure to the sun, and other factors are cited as some of these factors. In most cases, this type of skin condition is called hyperpigmentation, in which dark spots appear in a certain areas of the skin as a result of a melanin increase.

The good news is that these spots can be treated. Laser technology, bleaching creams and exfoliation are some of the available treatments which you can make use of to get rid of skin spots.

But before actually starting to treat the different types of Skin Spots you will need to figure out how you personally came to have this skin conditions. Perhaps this is due too much time in the sun. Only you will know the answer. Now once you have isolated the cause then you can now move on to treat your skin spots.

Here’s a look at what causes skin spots on the face and body.

Skin spots caused by sun

Sun is the main factor triggering dark skin spots. When your skin is exposed to sun rays the production of melanin increases significantly. Melanin is what determines the pigment of your skin and the more that is present, the darker the skin becomes.

This is the reason you become tan but it also leads to skin discolorations in many people. Most people who develop spots this way will get them in places like the face, arms, back and shoulders.  In some areas the damage is so bad that the brown spots remain permanently on the skin.

For this reason it is highly important to protect the skin from the damaging action of the solar rays. Wear hats to cover your head and face, or apply high SPF (sun protection factor of at least 30) lotions to create a screen between the solar rays and the skin.

Use protection no matter if you are taking a walk in the park, go shopping or lie on the beach. It will be best if you can avoid staying outdoors for too long, at between 10 am to 3 pm, when the sun rays are their strongest.

Skin spots caused by age

As we become older, we will experience some specific signs of aging such as wrinkles, brown spots and loose skin. Nobody like this to happen, but not to worry because you can make the brown skin spots go away or at least diminish their frequency and their intense color by specific treatments (bleaching or exfoliation). Also, drinking about 8 glasses of water and having a balanced diet will postpone the apparition of brown skin spots and will diminish their size and intensity.

Skin spots caused by hormonal imbalances

Not all the factors triggering brown spots are external. Indeed, hormonal imbalances can also cause skin spots. This is especially so for pregnant women and other women who undergo treatments with estrogen. Skin spots appear as your body adjusts to having more hormones being thrown into it.

As you can see, the causes of brown skin spots and hyperpigmentation are multiple. Therefore, you have to know exactly which specific factor triggers your skin problem before you treat it, so that you will know exactly how to approach it.

No matter what factor is responsible for your skin spots, you can remove them safe and easy with natural products. Try learning how to make and use these simple, fast and effective natural recipes by clicking on Skin Whitening Forever and your brown skin spots will be gone in a matter of weeks. You will not experience any side effects and your skin will be white and radiant once again!

What You Need to Know about Skin Color When You Treat Skin Darkening

If are suffering from skin darkening or have already developed brown spots, don’t fret, because there are effective ways of treating them. For a long time people have been preoccupied with the problem of hyperpigmentation which is one of the most common skin conditions. If you are one of those people who want to make your skin whiter by getting rid of brown spots on some areas of your body, the first step you need to take is to understand the characteristics of your skin. This is essential in order to get the perfect remedy to treat skin darkening

What I mean is you need to know about your actual skin color which is determined by melanin, carotene and blood vessels. Melanin gives your skin a darker tint. Carotene gives your skin a yellowish color, commonly seen in Asians. Blood vessels which can be seen through the skin will give it shades of red or pink. The composition of melanin, carotene and blood vessels combine to determine the skin color of a person.

If you are troubled by dark patches or brown spots on your skin, most probably your problem is due to excess production of melanin. The skin in reaction to sun exposure will produce melanin to shield against the sun’s ultra-violet rays. For this reason, sun spots most often occur on areas of the body that get the most exposure to the sun such as arms, lower legs, hands and the face.

When melanin is no longer able to offset the effects of the sun especially for older skin, sunburns and skin damages will happen. Dark patches or brown spots will start to appear because the different parts of your skin surface respond differently to sun’s rays.

For this reason, you should try to limit the exposure of your skin to the sun when its rays are their strongest, which is what you need to do in order to treat skin darkening effectively. This is especially so if you have a fair skin which lacks melanin, making yourself more vulnerable to sun burns and eventually scars that stay permanently on your skin.

However, this is often not realistic and definitely not a fun way to life on a daily basis.  Therefore, the importance of sunscreen cannot be overstated. You should get one that has an SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of at least 30 and apply it on the areas of your body that are not covered by clothing. In addition, your sunscreen of choice should be “broad-spectrum” which means that the cream will block both types of sun rays (UVA and UVB).

Wear light-colored clothing as you spend your day outdoors. Dark-colored clothing absorbs the damaging rays of the sun. This will also cause you to get overheated as you go through your day. Lighter colors like white and beige will naturally deflect the rays to protect your skin from the sun.

If possible, wear a hat, preferably with a 4-inch brim all around, to effectively cover your face, neck and ears. Also avoid indoor sunlamps and tanning beds, since they can be more harmful to your skin than the sun.

If are suffering from skin darkening or have already developed brown spots, don’t fret, because there are effective ways of treating them. You can read about them by clicking on Whiten Your Skin Safely and Permanently, where you will be able to learn how to treat skin darkening or brown spots in an efficient, yet natural and non-invasive manner.
