Pumpkin probably isn’t at the top of your list when you think about ingredients for facials, but it should be. Pumpkin makes an excellent face mask ingredient for all skin types, especially environmentally damaged or sensitive skin.

Pumpkin is filled to the brim with Vitamin A (skin healing), C (anti-oxidant), zinc, beta carotene, antioxidants and potassium. Pumpkin soothes, moisturizes and acts as a carrier, assisting the other mask ingredients to absorb deeper into the skin and intensifying the results.

Pumpkin naturally exfoliates, soothes irritation + redness, calms breakouts and makes the skin brighter. The molecular structure of pumpkin is small and therefore can penetrate deeper into the skin when used topically. This is amazing for treating a dull complexion, aging skin and pigmentation.

Following are easy recipes you can try at the comfort of your home for making a pumpkin face mask to keep your skin beautiful and glowing.

Egg Yolk Pumpkin Face Mask

To prepare this mask, you need 1 egg yolk and one quarter cup of freshly puree pumpkin. You mix both of them together to form a paste. You can apply this on your face and neck and let the mask stay on your skin for up to 15 minutes.

After this you rinse off with lukewarm water and follow by cold water to close up the skin pores. You wipe your face dry and put on some moisturizer.

This mask is good for sensitive skin. If you have dry skin, you can add in a tablespoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey). For people with oily skin, add in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.

Pumpkin contains lots of zinc and vitamins A and C, which helps to heal and protect the skin from free radicals, all while gently dissolving dead skin cells. The addition of egg helps bind this face mask together, while also nourishing and lifting the skin.

Milk Pumpkin Face Mask

To prepare this mask, you need one quarter cup of pureed pumpkin,

1 egg,1 tablespoon of raw organic honey (or manuka honey) and 1 tablespoon of milk.

You mix all the ingredients in a bowl to form a paste. You apply a layer of the mask all over your face, avoiding eyes + mouth.  The pumpkin mask goes on so much better if you apply with an art brush, but you could use a spoon in a pinch.

You let the mask stay on your skin for up to 15 minutes. After this you rinse off with lukewarm water and then with cold water to close up the skin pores so that your skin won’t get dry. You wipe your face dry and put on some moisturizer.

Oatmeal Pumpkin Face Mask

To prepare this mask, you will need 1 cup of canned or freshly pureed pumpkin, one quarter cup oatmeal (exfoliating), 2 tablespoons almond milk, 1 tablespoon raw organic honey (or manuka honey) and half teaspoon cinnamon.

You mix all the ingredients together in a medium size bowl until well blended. Apply generously to clean skin with fingertips or a small make-up brush, avoiding the eye area and let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes.

When the 15 minutes are up, wipe your face clean with a warm damp washcloth and enjoy soft, glowing skin.

You can use this mask for 2 to 3 times a week to heal summer sun damage and keep your skin exfoliated and hydrated throughout these cold, dry months.

Papaya Pumpkin Face Mask

To prepare this mask, you will need 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 1 beaten egg and 1 papaya. First you peel, remove the seeds of the papaya and then you mash it using your fork. Then you add the mashed papaya into the pumpkin-egg mixture. For extra smoothness, put mixture into a blender or food processor until a creamy paste forms.

You can now apply the mixture onto the clean skin of face and neck, leaving on for 20 minutes. Rinse off mask using lukewarm water and then with cold water in order to close up the skin pores. Dry your face with a wash cloth and apply some moisturizer.
