When sweat is secreted from the skin pour it is odorless. Sweat contains urea, salt, protein and fat. Bad odor can and usually does derive from illnesses and infections but most common of all causes is “poor hygiene.” Here are some effective ways to prevent and treat bad body odor

 

1. Watch what you eat because it’s said you are what you eat, which makes sense when those particular smells fill the air that has people turn their back on you. Particularly spicy foods and those containing garlic can increase body odor so avoid these food types if possible.

 

2. Leave shoes off at every convenience to allow them to air while giving your feet space to breathe at the same time.

 

3. Use medicated soap instead of ordinary. Since body odor is the result of apocrine secretions combined with bacteria, medicated soap can for a short period of time help rid or keep nasty odors to a minimum. Be careful with what antibacterial soap you use as particular sorts are known to dry out or irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin that is prone to dryness then try Dove or Cetaphil to add moisture.

Just apply the powder to your dry underarms. It will kill bacteria and help absorb perspiration. You can also use corn-starch instead or mix it with the baking soda to form a more effective combination.

 

9. Another useful tool in eliminating bad odor is White vinegar. Apply a solution of white vinegar and water to your armpits while bathing. You can also soak a cotton ball in vinegar and apply to the underarms instead of a deodorant. The vinegar smell will be gone within minutes and you will be odor-free all day.

 

10. If you do not wish to use deodorants, you can apply a solution of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and water to the underarm area. This regulates the pH balance of the skin. Bacteria can’t live in areas with low pH and this will help to get rid of odor. To get rid of foot odor, you can soak your feet in a pan of warm water mixed with 1/3 cup (75 ml) of ACV for 15 minutes. Repeat this for two or three times per week.

 

11. You can also treat bad body odor by using sage which has natural antiperspirant properties. Sage tea is an excellent way to decrease all over body odor. Sage helps to reduce the output of excessive sweating due to over active sweat glands. Put 1 and a half teaspoons of dried sage into a cup of hot water and let steep for about 10 minutes. Drink this in small doses throughout the day, about a teaspoon each time.

You can also apply the cooled Sage tea directly to the areas of the skin that lead to body odor, such as the armpits. Simply use a sponge or cloth, dip it in the cooled tea, and apply liberally to the affected skin. Let it sit on the skin until it dries, then reapply. After it dries the second time, rinse the affected area with water.

 

12. Another good way to treat bad body odor is to use Rosemary. It is a heat-tolerant herb that originated from the Mediterranean, is known to help control body odor due to its antibacterial effect. In addition to the pleasant smell this herb gives off (which can be used as a memory stimulant), it is also used to relax the stomach.

 

Adding rosemary to your diet as a tea will help sooth your digestive tract and help get rid of any undesirable microorganisms on the skin, due to its antiseptic properties. Put 8 to 10 drops of the essential oil in one ounce water and apply it where needed.

 

13. Prepare a homemade deodorant with the juice of about two dozen radishes and 1/4 teaspoon glycerin. Mix the liquids well and pour into a spray-top bottle. Spray this in the armpits to treat bad body odor. Remember to store it in fridge.

 

14. Mix two drops of the tea tree oil (essential oil) and one ounce of water. Pour this in a spray-top bottle and use as a deodorant. Since tea tree is an antibacterial herb, it would act favorably in preventing body odor. You can also mix 10 drops of the essential oil in 30 ml water. Apply this mixture on the armpits to treat bad body odor.

 

15. To treat bad body odor, you can also boil some Neem leaves in water and then collect the drained extract. This is then added to a bucket of water, which should be used to take a bath. This is a wonderful antimicrobial activity that can prevent not only bad odor, but will also protect your skin against various fungal infections.

 

16. One of the best home remedies to treat bad body odor is by mixing 1 tablespoon each of baking powder and lemon juice and applying it over various body parts during summers. This keeps you from developing body odor.

17. One of the simplest home remedies to treat bad body odor is to put a few drops of rose water in the bathtub, before taking bath. It will give you a long lasting freshness and serve as a good substitute for deodorant.
