Sex warning: Both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes sufferers could experience sexual dysfunction from uncontrolled symptoms

Diabetes is one of the fastest growing health conditions in many parts of the world, and affects one in every 16 people.

If left untreated or poorly managed it could lead to a number of complications.

These commonly include heart disease, stroke, nerve damage, foot problems and diabetic retinopathy, according to the NHS.

However, there is a lesser-known side-effect of diabetes – sexual dysfunction. This may include a reduced sex drive – or loss of libido – and less pleasure from sex compared to normal.

Sex warning: Over half on men with diabetes may experience issues such as erectile dysfunction

Men with diabetes may have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection during sex – also known as erectile dysfunction

This is where you are prevented from wanting or enjoying sexual activity, and it commonly affects diabetes sufferers.

According to Diabetes UK, it’s because the conditions causes reduced blood flow and loss of sensation in the sexual organs.

Male sufferers may experience problems getting and maintaining an erection, also known as erectile dysfunction.

This is particularly in those who smoke and have nerve or blood vessel damage.

People should be aware signs and symptoms of diabetes are not always obvious and the condition is often diagnosed during GP check-ups.

Sex warning: Up to 25% of women with diabetes may experience vaginal dryness or loss of libido

For some women with diabetes, vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina) can be recurrent.

Vaginitis can be brought on by a number of different ways including bacterial imbalance of the vagina (bacterial vaginitis) yeast infections (thrush) or from chemical irritation, such as from soaps or fabric conditioners.

This can make sex painful, and is heralded by itching or burning sensations.

Cystitis can also be a recurrent problem for women with diabetes. Cystitis happens when bacteria outside the body enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder.

High levels of sugar in your urine can provide a good environment for bacteria to multiply, so any bacteria that get into the bladder are more likely to cause cystitis.

Cystitis is much more common in women than men, probably because the anus (back passage) is closer to the urethra in women and the urethra is much shorter.

Loss of sensation

Diabetes can affect our nerves, in the form of neuropathy, and loss of sensation in the penis, clitoris and vagina is possible as well.

Trying out different positions may help to find positions which enhance sensation and therefore make reaching orgasm easier.

Oral sex

Oral sex can be pleasurable to give or receive whether climax is involved or not. Oral sex can be a good option if you’re having unexpected difficulties and can also keep your sex life alive and kicking when sexual dysfunction is a longer term issue.

When climax is unobtainable

Climax may not always be possible for one reason or another. Reasons for having difficulty reaching climax include having loss of sensitivity, psychological issues and having low blood sugar. As we age, we may find it harder to reach climax.

If an orgasm seems unobtainable, switch the focus of your love making either onto pleasuring your partner or in building an intimate sensual bond.

If you can have penetrative sex but cannot orgasm, positions which maximise body to body contact, eye contact and kissing can be sensual and fulfilling without necessarily requiring climax.

Communicate with your partner

If you are having difficulties, it’s important to let your partner know. If you’re not having as much sex as you used to, chances are that your partner will have recognised even if it hasn’t been mentioned.

If you address the issue, it’ll save your partner from being anxious and having to guess to why you’re not having sex so often.

The communication can help to ease any tension that may be present and may allow you and your partner to re-ignite your sex life in alternative ways.

Juicing as a trend has changed the way the world viewed nutrition. Inveterate juicers argued that far from being unhealthy, juicing is a perfectly scientific way to get more out of the fruit. It’s certainly easier to drink a glassful of juice squeezed out of ten oranges than to actually eat ten oranges. You get all the goodness of ten oranges in a single glass.

It is also easier to make your own combinations out of fruit and vegetables to increase the nutritional value of the juice. Juicers also believe that with the fibre already broken down during the juicing process, your body gets to absorb more of vitamins and minerals in the produce.

But this is precisely the reason why juicing is not good for diabetics, because along with the nutrients, the body also ends up absorbing a whole lot of sugar. A study published in the British Medical Journal found out that diabetics can benefit more from the whole fruit rather than from its juice. Juicing can, in fact, be harmful.

The study conducted on 66 105 women found that eating whole fruits like blueberries, grapes and apples is associated with lowered risk of diabetes. Fruit is rich in fibre, antioxidants and phytochemicals, which are extremely good for diabetes.

What’s in fruit juice? Why is fruit juice not Good for Diabetes?

Aside from vitamin C and calcium, fruit juice contains:

  • Calories – 250ml glass of unsweetened orange juice typically contains around 100 calories, compared to the 60 calories in an actual orange

  • Fructose (a form of sugar) – half a pint of fruit juice contains more sugar than the World Health Organisation recommends ideally having in a day (30g of sugar for men, 24g for women)

A lack of fibre – juice always contains less fibre than whole fruit and highly processed juices may not contain any fibre

As can be seen here, even if you haven’t sweetened the juice with extra sugar, fruit juices contain a lot of natural sugars. And without the fibre content to slow down the digestion, fruit sugars are absorbed more readily into your system when you have juice. Diabetics who are trying to manage their weight may also suffer from juicing. The excess sugar and the dearth of fibre can cause weight gain instead of weight loss.

So ditch juicing and grab a whole fruit instead. Try eating nutritious whole fruits like apples, pears, grapes and citruses which can not only help you manage your blood sugar levels but also supply you with essential micronutrients.

The Fruits which are Good for Diabetes

Mehar Rajput, Nutritionist at FITPASS and Sonia Narang, Nutritionist and Wellness Expert at Oriflame India, list down the fruits and their hidden benefits which a person suffering from diabetes should eat.

* Pomegranates contain the richest combination of antioxidants thereby, protecting you from free-radicals and chronic diseases. They play an important role in lowering the levels of bad cholesterol and resistance, which the body has against insulin.

* Apple is a hypoglycaemic fruit which contains plenty of fibre that is an impeccable ingredient for a diabetic. It also contains the chemical Pectin, that has the capability of reducing blood sugar levels and the requirement of insulin in the body by almost 50%.

* Berries have the capability to break glucose into energy, which reduces the increased glucose levels by a considerable amount. Further, they increase the release of insulin. Thus, regulating glucose levels in the body

* Guava with a low glycaemic index, guava is very rich in dietary fibre that helps ease constipation (a common diabetic complaint) and can lower the chance of developing type-2 diabetes. Guavas are also high in vitamin A and vitamin C.

* Papaya Natural antioxidants in papaya make it a great choice for diabetics. As diabetics are prone to many ailments, like heart or nerve damage caused by irregular blood sugar levels , the diet having papaya can obstruct future cell damage for a better and longer life span.

* Jamun – Its leaves are good for diabetic patients. As it has anti-diabetic features. This helps to convert starch into energy and keep the blood sugar levels in check, it has low glycemic index. It reduces the symptoms of diabetes like frequent urination and thrusting.

* Orange -The glycemic load of an orange is about 5, a low number that indicates that only small rise in blood glucose.Be cautious don’t consume orange juice.

* Amla has a good source of chromium which shows positive effects on the pancreas, where insulin is produced and therefore helps to manage blood sugar levels.

Summary – Best Diabetic Diet

This post discusses about the hard facts about diabetes, what causes diabetes and what foods to eat or avoid in the best diabetic diet.  There are 2 video clips about the dangerous foods to avoid and the top 10 foods to have in the best diabetic diet.

Cold Hard Facts about Diabetes

World Diabetes Day, the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign, is focused on Women and Diabetes. According to the International Diabetes Federation, 199 million women have type-2 diabetes, and that is projected to increase to 313 million by 2040.

In fact, diabetes is a leading cause of death among women. And that’s a scary fact. Diabetes has always been a hot topic for me, because it’s a worldwide epidemic that affects everyone, not just women: It’s estimated that 552 million people could have type-2 diabetes in the next two decades.

Currently, half of the U.S. population is diabetic or pre-diabetic.  It’s more important now, more than ever, to get the word out on what causes type-2 diabetes, and what you can do to prevent and control it.

What Causes Type-2 Diabetes?

There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. In addition, there is gestational diabetes, which occurs during pregnancy in some women when hormone changes prevent insulin from working properly, but the condition usually resolves after childbirth.

Meanwhile, both types 1 and 2 are chronic diseases that affect how your body regulates blood sugar, or glucose, which is the fuel that feeds your body’s cells. Insulin is needed to make this happens.

People with type-1 diabetes can’t produce insulin at all, People with type-2 diabetes can’t control their insulin levels and eventually may not produce insulin at all. This starts with insulin resistance, and it may happen gradually over time. While type-1 diabetes can’t be prevented or reversed, type-2 diabetes can.

The Best Diabetic Diet for Preventing and Controlling Type-2 Diabetes

There continues to be a compelling research-backed argument that shows that cutting back on carbs has the greatest effect on regulating blood sugar levels, because when broken down through digestion, carbs boost the body’s blood sugar levels, which prompts the release of insulin.

In other words, the more carbs you eat, especially processed carbs and anything containing white flour or sugar, the more they mess with your blood sugar levels. Add in weight gain and inactivity, and this continual abuse on your body leads to prediabetes and possibly type-2 diabetes.

Typically, once you get to this point, doctors tend to prescribe medication that helps manage your blood sugar levels, but I’m a big believer that better health through nutrition, not drugs, is possible. This is why a low carb diet like Atkins may help prevent and control type-2 diabetes.

In fact, Atkins may be the best diabetic diet because it eliminates the huge amounts of processed carbs that have become so easily accessible here and around the world, and focuses on a way of eating that features high-fiber carbohydrates that have the least impact on blood sugar, like colorful fresh vegetables; nuts; some low- glycemic fruits, such as berries; coupled with protein and healthy fats; is effective and sustainable in managing type-2 diabetes.

According to the American Diabetes Association, the best diabetic diet should include

  • Proteins – beans, nuts, poultry, eggs, oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, and sardines
  • Fruits and Vegetables – berries, sweet potatoes, nonstarchy vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, collard greens, kale, and okra
  • Dairy – low or non-fat milk, low or non-fat yogurt
  • Grains – whole grains, such as brown rice and whole-wheat pasta

The Best Diabetic Diet should exclude the following:

  • processed grains, such as white rice or white pasta
  • fruits with added sweeteners, including apple sauce, jam, and some canned fruits
  • full-fat dairy
  • fried foods or foods high in trans fats or saturated fats
  • foods made with refined flour
  • any food with a high glycemic load

If you have Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder then you must be very eager to find a PMDD treatment that really works to help you overcome this terrible condition.

Too many women have only been told that drugs and medication of various sorts is the only PMDD treatment but this is not true because there are many ways you can lessen this condition completely naturally.

If you follow the right PMDD treatment in fact you can cure PMDD forever too!

So let’s take a look at a few ways you can start to eliminate the symptoms of PMDD such as extreme mood swings, muscle aches and pains, depression and other psychological issues this causes.

Dietary Changes – What you eat is always related to your health as your food gives you the energy and the nutrients to work, rest, play, and heals yourself from the inside.

There are many ways to improve your diet but one massive tip for anyone who is looking to reduce the hormonal imbalance at the heart of PMDD is to stop eating packaged and processed foods.

All foods that have been overly refined have lost all of the nutrients that kept your hormones in balance.

Lack of fibre causes the food to be digested faster leading to a massive spike in blood sugar which prompts a hormone response that throws everything into disarray.

The more raw and fresh foods you eat the better your PMDD will become!

Meditation – The unstable moods of PMDD and the heightened anxiety and panic you might feel can be alleviated with meditation. This does not need to be some mystical thing surrounded by incense though.

Meditation is a real thing that can allow you to simply clear the clutter in your mind and bring more internal balance.

It actually reduced a hormone gone rampant in your body at this time called cortisol that is linked to stress which will start to normalise your internal workings that control the mood chemicals in the brain.

Correct Your Sleep – Lack of sleep or too much sleep is a major symptom of PMDD but it does not need to be.

Understanding how your sleep patterns work and adjusting your daily cycle to combat the chaos it has been thrown into will allow more sleep and BETTER sleep which is a PMDD treatment all on its own!

For instance, try skipping naps during the day because they can interfere with your night time sleeping.

Also make sure you get long and uninterrupted sleep so you can sleep as deeply as possible which allows the greatest internal healing and repair.

These are just a part of the jigsaw puzzle that is a complete PMDD treatment set, to learn more about how to put these and many more together into a workable plan for a natural PMDD cure, click below to discover what you need to know to take control of your body and mind once again.

Do you want to lose cellulite on butt forever?

This is a very touchy subject. There are lots of treatments available that claim to help you lose cellulite on butt. It is true that some of these products can improve the appearance of cellulite temporarily, but as it is not an “illness” but something normal caused by hereditary factors and hormones it cannot really be “cured”

While it is possible to lose cellulite on butt while you are trying to lose fat the extent of its reduction may not be as desired. Anti-cellulite treatment involves more than just losing pounds. That is why liposuction, which is an easy way to lose body fat, makes the problem more visible.

Nutrition is also the key and you can’t just put junk food into your body without expecting it to react.

You can think of cellulite as little pockets of trash cells. The fat cells plump up and this is what you see are the little plumped up fat cells that make that crazy indention.

One of the first things I teach people is:  “Count Chemicals Not Calories”™

This means that you’re going to look at the ingredients on all the foods that you eat. If there is a chemical, don’t eat it and that includes diet foods.

Some of the worst foods out there are labelled as “diet foods” or “health foods”, but they’re just full of chemicals.

Eat natural foods, foods that have only 1 ingredient like broccoli, fish or chicken.

An effective diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables, and salads comprising of raw cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, lettuce, etc. many fresh fruits contain compounds that have the capacity to fight free radicals present in the body. Your meals should consist of lean protein such as lean red meat, tuna and chicken. Others consist of oily fish, seeds and nuts.

All of those foods are something you can understand which your body will process it for energy so you won’t store it in cellulite.

Consult a qualified dietician to suggest a healthy diet suitable for your body constitution. While a proper diet will not suffice by itself it can help you to lose cellulite on butt faster.

Another reason why you can’t lose cellulite on butt is because your metabolism starts to change.

Once you reach your 20s and 30s, all those chemicals you’ve been eating for years begin to add up. They are damaging to your body and store butt fat.

They create toxins and cellulite on butt which make your energy go crashing.

One of the biggest mistakes women make when they try to lose cellulite on butt is that they do the same sports they did in high school.

Here’s a quick exercise you can do to lose cellulite on butt and get that nice, sexy, toned butt muscle that’s going to give you your high school butt back:

Just coming down onto the floor, place your hands underneath your elbows.

Place your knees underneath your hips, lift one leg and put footprints on the ceiling.

Now, make sure you’re really targeting in to your butt muscle.

Feel the butt contract every time you lift your leg up. This is isolating that butt muscle and you can feel it working.

The KEY is to keep the contraction in the butt muscle so you get the most from this exercise in the no time.

This is going to help you lose cellulite on butt and give you that nice, toned, round, lifted butt like you had in high school.

In fact, it’s going to be even better than what you had in high school because now you know the key to get a great butt is to target that butt muscle.

So, that was just one quick exercise… I’ve got lots more on how you can get the best butt of your life.
