If you’ve never before used a face and body scrub, you may not know the body benefits of using one on a regular basis. Using a scrub on your body and/or face can be of great help to your complexion, through their ability to make skin appear brighter, fresher and more youthful.

Body washes and scrubs provide a refreshing start to the day and offer an invigorating wake-up after a long day at work or driving kids back and forth from school and sports. Body scrubs help soothe tired dry skin and can be used on the arms, legs and all over the body to increase softness and suppleness.

Body scrubs can offer a spa-like exfoliating experience with rejuvenating aromas and medicinal benefits for the skin. But please note that body scrubs should not be used every single day, as they can cause irritation to freshly exfoliated skin.

A body scrub based on strawberry is a great way to exfoliate your dry knees, elbows, legs, feet, arms, hands and basically anywhere except for your face. Strawberry has amazing properties which are good for hair and skin.

Strawberry acts similar to honey; it can disinfect the skin, smooth it out, and decrease the appearance of dilated pores Strawberry makes a good body scrub, hair mask, exfoliator, rejuvenator, anti-acne mask, anti-wrinkle and the list goes on.

Strawberry body scrubs can be purchased at a number of stores both online and at physical stores, but why buy a synthetic scented body scrub when you can make a fresh, natural one at home. This homemade body exfoliating body scrub will definitely be free from any harsh chemical additives and preservatives.

Below are some strawberry body scrub recipes you can use to help you get smooth, soft, glowing rejuvenated skin.

Strawberry Body Scrub Recipe #1

Get 5 Strawberries and banana and then cut into small pieces and mixed until the mass becomes smooth. Then you add two spoons of olive oil and three spoons of sugar. Thereafter this mass should be applied as a body scrub. It is very tender and should be used once a week in order to get rid of dead cells.

Strawberry Body Scrub Recipe #2

In this scrub the strawberries provide the fragrance but you could also use essential oils. The strawberries are slightly astringent.  I prefer sugar scrubs (white is a bit scrubbier than brown sugar) rather than salt because I live in a dry climate and salt tends to make me feel drier, but you can use either.  Fine sea salt also makes a good scrub. Just substitute the same amount of salt for sugar, or mix them together if you want.

1st thing to do is to finely mash 5 strawberries. Next add 1 – 2 tablespoons canola or olive oil to the strawberries. Canola oil is light while olive oil is heavier which is more suitable if you have drier skin.

Stir in 1 cup of sugar (or salt). After mixing, put it in a plastic bowl for your shower. Scrub on wet skin and rinse off in shower (the oil in the scrub will make the tub slippery, so be careful).

Strawberry Body Scrub Recipe #3

Things that you will need for this recipe are 5 large strawberries (fresh, not frozen), 1/2 tbsp. fresh ginger (finely grated) and 1/4 cup olive oil (you may also use canola, grape seed or sweet almond oil as well)

Puree the strawberries to a thin liquid in a blender or food processor. Combine fresh strawberry puree, ginger and canola oil in a bowl. Using a fork, mix the ingredients in the bowl thoroughly.

Add the salt and baking soda once the first three ingredients have been thoroughly combined Make sure that the liquid is completely combined with the solid. The salts need to be thoroughly saturated. Set aside and let sit for an hour.

Check your salt scrub mixture after an hour. There should be about 1/2 inch of oil on the surface, separated from the mixture. If you need to add more oil, do so now. Mix again and set aside. Add 5 drops of lavender oil if the ingredients are fully combined. Mix gently with a fork.

Spoon the mixture into airtight containers and store in the refrigerator when you’re not using it. Apply the mixture to wet skin when you are done with your shower and exfoliate in a circular motion. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a towel.

Strawberry Body Scrub Recipe #4

For this recipe, you will need 5 strawberries, 2 tablespoons brown sugar,2 tablespoons ground oats , 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon manuka honey, 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don’t have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).

Before you start preparing this scrub, grind the strawberries and oatmeal using a coffee grinder or food processor. It has to be of sandy consistency, flaky and light otherwise it will scratch the skin. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until it resembles a paste.

It should be applied on moist skin; the best time is after you took a shower. It will help the skin cells slough off faster. Use circular motion and massage gently using your fingertips. Rinse off with warm water.

Oatmeal is hypoallergenic. In case you have sensitive skin, using the oatmeal is highly recommended because it is soothing and there is no risk that it will irritate the skin. Oatmeal is beneficial to oily skin as it is extremely absorptive and picks up on excess oil. It helps dry and itchy skin and is widely used in cosmetics.

Aloe vera gel is gentle on skin; it speeds its healing and reduces the possible irritation and pain. Lemon is a great natural disinfectant. It opens up the clogged pores and cleanses them thoroughly so your skin can “breathe” better.

Strawberry Body Scrub Recipe #5

For this recipe, you will need ½ a bowl of fresh strawberries mashed, ¼ cup of organic pure cane sugar, ¼ cup of melted Shea butter, ¼ cup of virgin coconut oil, ¼ cup sweet almond oil, ¼ cup sunflower oil and ¼ cup of Vitamin E oil.

Place the freeze-dried strawberries into a mortar and pestle and grind to a fine powder. Pour your pure cane sugar into the mortar and grind for several minutes to make the sugar crystals finer. Place the powdered strawberries and the sugar into a small mixing bowl and stir in the oils. Transfer the scrub to a nice air-tight container and then quickly GO GET YOUR SCRUB ON!!

To use this scrub, you apply a small amount to dry skin and gently massage in small circular motions.  Apply a small amount of warm water and continue to gently scrub until the sugar crystals have melted.  Rinse off with warm water and gently pat skin dry.

You may use on your face too.   Be extra careful when using in the shower or bath as the surface may become slippery.  Don’t scrub your skin too hard! Your skin will appreciate a gentle exfoliation best! You can store this in a cool dark place and use within 3 months.
