Facts about Vaginal Discharge and Odor

Click HERE To Find Out How You Can Get Rid Of Abnormal Vaginal Discharge

What causes vaginal discharge? What are the types of vaginal discharge? What are the differences between normal and abnormal vaginal discharge?

Is there any problem if there is bad vaginal odor? Is there anything you can do about it?

What are vaginal discharge and its causes?

Vaginal discharge is most often a normal and regular occurrence and is your body’s way of cleaning and protecting the vagina. It consists of dead cells and fluid which are shed through the vagina.

What are the types of vaginal discharge?

The types of vaginal discharge are categorized according to their color and consistency.

White discharge

This is normal and usually occurs at the beginning and end of your menstrual cycle. But if you feel itching and soreness at the same time and the discharge has a thick, cottage cheese-like consistency, this may be a sign of yeast infection.

Clear and watery discharge

This is perfectly normal and can occur at any time of the month, especially after exercise.

Clear and mucous-like discharge

This is also normal and is a sign that you are ovulating.

Brownish or bloody discharge

This is usually normal, especially when it occurs during your menstrual cycle. Towards the end of your period, the discharge may turn brown instead of red.

Yellowish or green discharge

This is abnormal especially when it is thick, chunky, or accompanied by a bad smell. This is a clear sign of vaginal infection, most likely sexually transmitted disease which you need to see a doctor as soon as possible.

How to treat abnormal vaginal discharge?

Abnormal vaginal discharge is usually a result of bacterial imbalance caused by an overgrowth of the bad bacteria. An effective way to treat it is to strengthen your immunity system so that it will produce more of the good bacteria to keep the bad bacteria in check.

The treatment is a combination of using an over-the-counter yeast infection cream or vaginal suppository, eating yogurt that contains live and active cultures or taking Lactobacillus acidophilus tablets, keeping your genital area dry and clean but do not douche, and avoid wearing extremely tight-fitting pants or shorts as well as underwear that do not absorb moisture.

Take antibiotics when needed, but avoid unnecessary use of antibiotics. Taking antibiotics exposes you to the risks of allergic reactions and antibiotic side effects (such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and yeast infections). Also, antibiotics may kill good bacteria.

Bacterial Vaginosis: Causes and Ways of Preventing BV

Find Out From HERE on How To Eliminate Bacterial Vaginosis Permanently

What is bacterial vaginosis (BV)? What causes bacterial vaginosis? What are the signs and symptoms of bacterial vaginosis? In the following paragraphs, I will provide the answers to these questions.

What is bacterial vaginosis?

Bacterial vaginosis or BV can also be referred as bacterial vaginitis is a disease of the vagina caused by overgrowth of “bad” bacteria (such as the Gardnerella bacteria.) There exists both the “good” and the “bad” bacteria in the vagina. The good ones will keep the bad ones in check. However, due to certain conditions, this balance is been upset, with too much of the bad ones and not enough of the good ones. When this happens to a woman, she will get bacterial vaginosis.

Bacterial vaginosis is quite a common ailment affecting up to 64% of women. Many women can have bacterial vaginosis with little or no symptoms present, and be completely unaware that they even have the infection.

What are the signs and symptoms of bacterial vaginosis?

Bacterial vaginosis is often confused with yeast infection. The big difference between yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis is that yeast infection should not produce any smelly vaginal discharge.

When the discharge smells, it is a sign of infection and most likely a woman with such condition is suffering from bacterial vaginosis. The most recognizable symptom of bacterial vaginosis is that the discharge smells fishy, which may get worse after sex.

What causes bacterial vaginosis?

Many physicians and experts believe there are no direct causes for Bacterial Vaginosis, but there are several problems associated with it.  Most likely, the symptoms come from changes in lifestyle that affect bacterial balance in your body.

Some common lifestyle associations include having sex at a younger age, having more than one sexual partner or having several sexual partners.  These are known to cause extra bacteria to move into the vagina, causing problems and imbalances with the healthy bacteria being overburdened with bad bacteria.

Other main causes for Bacterial Vaginosis are related to douching.  Women will do this to get extra bacteria out of the body and to stay clean.  However, this way of helping you to stay clean works in reverse, as it often clears out healthy bacteria from your system, which changes the vaginal pH level.  This makes it easier for bad bacteria to stay in your system and stops healthy bacteria from being able to create the immunity needed.

How to lower the risk of getting bacterial vaginosis?

By staying cautious of your lifestyle practices, you can easily work towards preventing Bacterial Vaginosis from occurring.  You need to be aware of the higher risk of contracting sexual diseases if you have numerous of sexual partners. Having only a partner is a simple way to prevent BV.

You can also make sure which you don’t use a douche, as the bacteria can cleanse themselves out and keeps balanced naturally.  Douching in moderation and understanding the negative effects of douching is a simple way to prevent BV from occurring.

Watching these particular steps is a simple beginning to preventing BV from occurring.  If you want to take extra steps for preventing Bacterial Vaginosis from occurring, then follow simple steps of prevention always helps.

For instance, wearing clean underwear which is cotton based and not tight allows healthy bacteria to have breathing room so it can continue to provide immunities.  This not only allows the clean bacteria to continue to thrive, but also aerates the bacteria so it can reproduce and remain balanced.

Other small step you can take is staying clean so that you can stop outside bacteria from entering into your body.  This helps healthy bacteria when they are trying to combat against outside bacteria.

Recognizing the causes of Bacterial Vaginosis is the first step to alter the problem through simple lifestyle changes.  Doing this helps in preventing Bacterial Vaginosis from creating an imbalance in your body and allows you to take the correct steps to help your body to naturally produce the right levels of healthy bacteria.  Identifying what changes you can personally make is a first step forward to recovery and a re-balance from the conditions of Bacterial Vaginosis.

Are the Risks of Getting Yeast Infection during Pregnancy Higher?

Does pregnancy makes a woman’s body more susceptible to yeast infections? Many women are worried about getting yeast infection during pregnancy. The truth is that Candida infection is twice as likely to happen during pregnancy as compared to situations outside of pregnancy.

Before discussing the complexity about the likelihood of getting candida infection during pregnancy, let’s take a quick look at the initial physiological reasons for the yeast infection ailment.

The most common kind of yeast infection is vaginal infection which has symptoms which include burning sensation when urinating or having sex, itching, redness or irritation around the vaginal area and large amount of thick and usually colorless vaginal discharge that may appear like cottage cheese.

The reason that pregnant women are at a high risk of getting yeast infection is due to shifting hormones that can weaken the immune system. Pregnancy-induced hormonal changes modify the vaginal context and make fungi more likely to grow beyond acceptable limits.

As your hormones increase, internal and external factors change your vagina’s environment, which triggers an overgrowth of Candida albicans (type of fungus normally found in small amounts in the vagina and intestinal tract) and creates an imbalance.

During pregnancy, the body produces sugar and secretes it through the vagina more frequently. Yeast fungus feeds off sugar and allows the fungus to grow and spread.

In addition, emotional stress affecting many women when pregnant and while expecting a child may as a consequence degrade the immune system and increase the chance of yeast overgrowth.

Another reason is that pregnant women tend to develop cravings for sugar-rich or white flour containing foods. These foods which contain refined sugars and refined carbohydrates will increase the risk of yeast infection.

Other factors that can cause yeast infection during pregnancy are taking hormones or birth control pills, high blood sugar, such as diabetes, taking steroids or antibiotics, douching and vaginal intercourse.
Candida yeast infection (or candidiasis) if left untreated can lead to systemic yeast infection, with significant negative effects both in terms of quality of life and overall well-being.

Since it is not so appropriate for pregnant women to use antifungal medications or antibiotic treatments, it is therefore more important to find another solution for candidiasis during this moment of childbearing.

Finding a cure for candidiasis in pregnant women is crucial, because the infection can spread from the mother to her baby through the birth canal during pregnancy or during childbirth, or afterwards via breast-feeding.

The holistic approach which involves making dietary and lifestyle changes and getting rid of toxins, can stop all types of yeast infection. This 100% natural holistic approach is especially suitable for pregnant women and can prevent the recurrence of yeast infection safely and effectively.
Pregnant women who want a total and permanent solution to candidiasis can use holistic methods to rid themselves of this condition. This is done by taking a set of specific home remedies to relieve the symptoms and following a list of holistic all-natural guidelines that address the fundamental issues.

Curing Candida Yeast Infection: Desensitization (EPD) For Candida

Learn more from HERE on how to get rid of candida yeast infection

One of the options for curing candida yeast infection is by using a method called immunotherapy. Under this treatment method for curing yeast infection patients are told to avoid consuming all kinds of food that are thought to promote yeast infection such as those that are high in carbohydrates and sugar. Anti-allergic medication in the form of oral drops or injection are also been prescribed for strengthening the body’s immunity system and reducing the allergic reaction.
The method is also called Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EPD). This is actually a treatment for allergies developed in the mid-1960s by Len McEwen, M.D. (London). The newest form of this treatment is called Low Dose Allergens or LDA.

Under this method of treatment the patients are given up to three injections every two months for duration of up to two years, depending on the patients’ response to the therapy. The enzymes in the vaccine are supposed to enhance the candida infection strength and may treat several other groups of allergens along the way.

The EPD treatment for candida yeast infection goes like this:

About 10 days before a patient gets the first injection, he/she is been given Sporanox, which is an anti-fungal for systematic candida, and De-Nol an anti-gastric ulcer agent that prevents the candida from getting entrenched in the mucus linings of the intestinal tract.

For about 3 days before receiving the injection, the patient has to abstain from the consumption of all food allergens. At the same time he/she has to take supplements (which include Zinc, Folic acid and Vitamin D3) for the purpose of improving the effectiveness of the EPD treatment.

The response to EPD treatment for candida yeast infection varies from one person to another. Some respond favorably to the treatment showing sudden and dramatic improvement which however does not last while others need heavier dosage as well as longer treatment duration until improvement is maintained.

Either way, EPD is not a permanent solution for candida. This is because EPD is not a total approach to curing candida yeast infection. It only addresses one aspect of the yeast infection by focusing only on the dietary and allergy reaction factor that trigger candida overgrowth. Due to this reason, EPD’s effects wear off in time. EPD will not even work if you have serious gut problems, bacterial infections, parasites or systematic candida.

The only effective way for curing candida yeast infection is by addressing all candida-contributing factors though the holistic approach, not just the dietary or allergy triggering factors. It is only by fixing the underlying or root cause of candida overgrowth that all candida related symptoms will be gone permanently along with the feeling of increased energy, improved vision, health and well-being.

How Harmful Chemicals in Our Environment Can Increase Risk of Candida Yeast Infection

Click HERE To Eradicate Candida Yeast Infection!

Is there any connection between our living environment and the risk of getting candida yeast infection? How do I get rid of yeast infection that is due to chemicals and toxic elements?

To answer these questions, we first have to know what candida is. Yeasts are one-celled organisms that are present in the environment as well as in our bodies. Yeasts can be found in our mouth and intestines and they help us in digestion. In small quantities, yeasts are harmless.

Normally the amount of yeasts in our bodies is kept at a healthy level by the friendly bacteria (bacterial flora) and a type of white blood cells called neutrophils. However, certain conditions may cause malfunction of both the bacterial flora and neutrophils.

When this happens, the yeasts will overgrow or increase by more than the normal amount that is needed by our bodies. In fact, the term “Candida” refers to the general overgrowth of various fungi and yeasts in the body, which flourish under certain circumstances to the point of causing illness.  Candida albicans appears to be the most prominent of these microbes.

One of the factors that cause this to happen is the over-exposure to toxins which can be present in chemicals, metals, medicines, dental fillings or even food.

Our body system is able to handle toxins up to a certain level. Beyond this tolerable level, our immunity system will get overworked and start to malfunction. This will then cause yeasts to multiply in numbers beyond the required healthy level.

This excess toxic in our body can lead to hormonal imbalance, genetic alterations, immune system failure, skin problems, allergies and nerve and brain damage.

Unfortunately, we may not be aware that the excess toxic in our body is due to pollution (as we accidentally inhale some chemicals), the consumption of food and the usage of any items (such as pesticides, herbicides, solvents, paints, formaldehyde, petrochemicals, and heavy metals) when during the process of producing them, chemicals are used or added on them.

When excess toxic occurs in our intestine, the intestinal lining will produce extra mucus to prevent the harmful chemicals from being absorbed into the blood stream. The problem is that this mucus creates an environment, which lacks oxygen, thus encourages bacteria and fungi like organisms such as candida yeast to grow out of control.

How to treat candida yeast infection?

The successful treatment of candida yeast infection incorporates several of the basic principles of holistic medicine, which emphasizes self-care, proper diet, and the wise use of both conventional and complementary therapies. This will also require the need to cut down or avoid exposure to items that contain the harmful chemicals.

Because candida yeast infection results from over-exposure to toxics occurs over a prolonged period of time, you must realize that there is no quick-fix cure. In order to be effective, both time and personal commitment to dietary and lifestyle changes are required.

Treatment also depends on the degree of yeast overgrowth and how badly it has compromised immune function. When yeast overgrowth is confined only to the gastrointestinal (GI) tract or vagina, the treatment tends to be shorter and less involved.

In systemic cases, however, where yeast toxins have spread throughout the body, treatment protocols can last as long as six months to a year. And in severe cases of leaky gut syndrome, successful treatment (requiring the healing of the bowel lining) takes at least a year or more.
