Wrinkles are unwelcome indicators of aging and sun exposure. Rather than applying chemicals in the form of under-eye creams, choose natural and safe home remedies to get rid of under eye wrinkles.

Yogurt, coconut oil, grapes, and coffee fruit are some of the natural remedies that can work wonders in helping to get rid of under eye wrinkles effectively.

Eyes are hailed as the windows to the soul and are often the foremost thing we notice in someone. Isn’t it natural that the skin around the eyes can reveal a lot about our age and skin care routine?

The skin around the eyes is extremely thin and delicate due to less amount of collagen and elastin. This makes it more prone to dehydration and wrinkles.

Rather than resorting to fancy under-eye creams that are loaded with chemicals, find out how you can use natural remedies to get rid of under eye wrinkles.

1. Coffee Bean

Who doesn’t love the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans? Coffee is not only an amazing stimulant but also has excellent skin-enhancing properties.

The fruits of the coffee plant (Coffea arabica) has a powerful antioxidant activity which can reduce the damage caused by free-radicals to your skin. This means it can improve fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and overall appearance of the skin.

2. Coconut Oil

Applying coconut oil on to wrinkles will give your skin that much-needed moisture boost. Being packed with vitamin E and essential antioxidants, coconut oil works wonders with skin rehydration and rejuvenation.

A good way to allow coconut oil to seep into your skin pores is by massaging it gently onto your face. Leaving it overnight on your skin will reduce fine lines and wrinkles while keeping it hydrated too.

3. Olive Oil

While olive oil adds great flavor to your cooking, it’s also a wonderful remedy for eye bags and wrinkles. Its high vitamin E and K content along with protective antioxidants delays premature aging of your skin. The skin around the eyes can lose moisture soon.

Olive oil, when applied around the eyes locks moisture within and keeps your skin supple. To revive your skin’s youthful glow, mix a few drops of lemon in it while massaging the face.

4. Yogurt

The milky goodness of yogurt has made it an important part of our diet in the form of desserts, smoothies, and salads. But yogurt is also a rich source of lactic acid and alpha hydroxy acid. This helps to exfoliate dead skin cells and delay fine lines and wrinkles under the eye too.

Make it a part of your regular skin care routine and you will find out why it is one of the best natural home remedies for wrinkles under the eyes.

DIY Yogurt Face Pack

  • 1 tablespoon of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • A few drops of rose water

Make a paste of the ingredients and leave it on your face for 20 minutes. Rinse off to unravel clear and radiant skin.

5. Grapes

Seedless or not, a small bunch of grapes, definitely packs a punch, nutrition-wise. Resveratrol, a unique antioxidant in the grape skin is known to have amazing benefits in delaying eye wrinkles.

DIY Grape Face Mask

  • Mash 5 grapes
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or yogurt

Mash the grapes while mixing in a bowl and apply it on the face. Wash it away with lukewarm water to reveal a refreshed face.

Now you know, grapes don’t just belong to wines or desserts but can be even used as a remedy for removing wrinkles under eyes.

6. Aloe Vera

The gentle and effective skin repair properties of aloe vera gel make it one of the best natural home remedies to get rid of under eye wrinkles. Being rich in vitamin C, E and beta-carotene, it nourishes and soothes sensitive skin while keeping it supple and young.

It can be applied directly on the skin or mixed with turmeric or honey for added benefits. Its excellent hydration properties along with its ability to revive elasticity of the skin help improve under eye bags and wrinkles.

7. Milk Powder

Milk powder is filled with lactic acid, which is a natural AHA (alpha-hydroxyl acid). AHAs are the best at exfoliating dead skin cells and enhancing your skin’s collagen levels. This means milk is not just good for your bones but also for your skin.

DIY Milk Powder Face Pack

  • 1 tablespoon of milk powder
  • 1 teaspoon of honey/rose water

Mix them in a bowl and apply onto the face. Rinse with lukewarm water after 20 minutes

8. Cucumber

Your eyes love the coolness of a cucumber. Thanks to its high antioxidants content, cucumber hydrates the skin, boosts collagen, and increases elastin – features that are great for combating wrinkles.

Apply cucumber puree with a little yogurt (for smoother application) on your eyes. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Wash off with cool water. Repeat this once or twice a week for results.

9. Pineapple Juice

Pineapples contain a compound known as bromelain which helps to fight and prevent wrinkles. Bromelain is also a natural AHA that helps to remove dead cells.

Massage pineapple juice on your eyes and wash it off after 15 minutes. You could do this several times a week.

10. Cleaning with Cool Water

Cool water has a milder effect on the skin. Washing your eyes and face with cool water slows down aging and improves blood circulation.

Keep in mind the water just needs to be cool and not very cold, otherwise, it could hurt the capillaries in your skin. Also, your skin loves to be hydrated from within as well, so drink up those 8 glasses of water daily!

11. Papaya and Honey

Using papaya and honey for the eyes and face is an age-old remedy to improve skin texture and health. Simply mash up papaya with honey and apply it on your eyes and all over your face. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

Fenugreek is another ancient remedy to treat any skin related issues, especially fine lines around the eyes. Make a paste of mashed fenugreek leaves and water. Apply the paste on and around your eyes. Rinse it off after 10 minutes.

13. Ginger

Ginger has a truckload of benefits for the skin. It slows down aging, promotes an even skin tone, and increases radiance. Try to eat a piece of ginger with a tablespoon of honey daily to reap its skin benefits.

14. Banana

Bananas are loaded with vitamins A, E and C. This makes everybody’s favorite fruit beneficial for the skin in terms of improving skin texture and slowing down aging. Mash up a banana and rub it gently onto your eyes. Wash it off after 15 minutes.

15. Carrot

Most of us grew up listening to our grandparents saying carrots are great for the skin. And it’s true! Carrots are high in nutrients (especially vitamin A) and antioxidants that can reduce wrinkles and smoothen out the skin.

To make it easier to apply carrot on the skin, boil a few pieces to make it soft and mix it with honey. Apply the mixture on your eyes and wash off after 10 minutes.

16. Almonds

Almonds are extremely rich in vitamin E. This makes it useful to protect the skin from damage and prevent early signs of aging. Almonds make a perfect snack between meals, so make sure to munch up! Almond oil is also a great option to apply directly on the skin.

17. Castor Oil

Castor oil has been found to increase collagen and elastin production. It moisturizes the skin and improves blood circulation.

Dip a cotton ball in castor oil and massage it gently around your eyes. Let it rest overnight. You could wash it off when you wake up.

18. Rosemary

Rosemary is very skin friendly. The compounds present in rosemary stimulates blood circulation, increases elasticity, and decreases fine lines. It can also reduce puffy eyes and redness.

Make sure to add rosemary to your dishes. Another option is to apply rosemary oil (with a carrier oil of your choice) on your face.

19. Avocados

Here is How to Exercise to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls - Facial exercises to combat wrinkles and get rid of sagging jowls, or the loose skin of the lower cheeks and jaw, will help by improving your facial muscles and tightening the skin. Here is How to Exercise to Get Rid of Sagging Jowls.

You are without a doubt looking forward to learning how to get rid of sagging jowls – that is presumably why you are here.

The term “jowls” refers to the flesh along the lower jaw especially when fleshy or sagging. If the skin in your lower cheeks seems to hang along or sink below the jawline, then you have sagging jowls

They tend to affect women more, beginning to appear in their 40’s but in some people, they may occur as early as 20’s. Although anyone can be affected by jowls, people with fuller faces tend to get them much later compared to their narrower-faced counterparts.

Facial exercises to combat wrinkles and get rid of sagging jowls, or the loose skin of the lower cheeks and jaw, will help by improving your facial muscles and tightening the skin.

Rather than concentrating only on the jowls, practice exercises that challenge each region of your face to ensure even results. Keep a consistent exercise regimen; visible improvement may take months.

Specific exercises to get rid of sagging jowls will work if performed in conjunction with a workout for your whole body. Spot-reducing trouble areas unfortunately is not possible; but if you perform at least 150 to 300 minutes a week of moderately-intense aerobic exercise, along with two days a week of strength training and eating a healthy diet — you will be able to see the results of your spot-specific exercises once you have lost excess weight.

The chewing motion is an exercise suited to get rid of sagging jowls. Tilt your head up slightly with your lips almost touching and perform a set of 20 chewing motions each day to help tighten your jowls and eliminate a double chin. Each chewing motion takes approximately 1 second and is the same motion you’d use to chew food or gum.

Draw your face into a pout while using your fingers to pull down the corners of your mouth. Hold it for five seconds and repeat the exercise 10 times, twice a day. Performing this exercise while lying down improves its efficacy.

Exercising the muscles involved in smiling helps tone sagging jowls. Grin as widely as possible with your teeth showing, and hold it while tilting your head back and forth. Switch the grin for a frown and repeat the exercise.

Alternatively, close your lips in a tight smile and clench the muscles of your neck, holding the position for a minute. Flex your neck muscles during this exercise if you prefer.

Another exercise that works to get rid of sagging jowls, entails placing your bottom lip over your top lip, tilting your head and holding a frozen smile until it becomes uncomfortable. Repeat each of these exercises a few times daily.

Other exercises geared toward tightening the jowls involve moving your lips, cheek muscles and jaws. You have more than 50 muscles in your face, so options abound for exercising these muscles.

Start exercising before your jowls begin to sag to help prevent the problem from occurring. Choosing these natural exercises to get rid of sagging jowls over other methods such as cosmetic surgery avoids associated problems such as nerve damage and saves money, too.

How Best to Choose Your Anti-Aging Products?

The 3 Important Rules to Make Sure Your Anti-Aging Products Actually Work - Key ingredients to look out for your anti-aging products are retinols (which promote cell turnover) and hydroquinone (which helps lighten dark spots); alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid (which help exfoliate the skin); antioxidants like vitamin C (which ward off damage from free radicals), and of course, SPF
CLICK HERE to Learn about The Best Facial Yoga Toning System to Look Younger
  1. Buy Power Ingredients

Familiarize yourself with ingredients that have significant studies proving their efficacy, says Shereene Idriss, M.D., of New York City’s Union Square Laser Dermatology.

“Key ingredients to look out for your anti-aging products are retinols (which promote cell turnover) and hydroquinone (which helps lighten dark spots); alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid and hyaluronic acid (which help exfoliate the skin); antioxidants like vitamin C (which ward off damage from free radicals), and of course, SPF,” says Idriss. Top formulas will even combine ingredients for healthier, younger-looking skin.

  1. Do Some Research Before You Buy Anti-Aging Products

That said, even if a cleanser or cream contains a good ingredient, it can be difficult to know how pure and effective it really is, says Arisa Ortiz, M.D., Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology and Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology at UC San Diego.

Do your research and pick products from reputable brands, she advises.

“My favorite product lines are Alastin, SkinMedica, Neocutis, and Skinceuticals,” says Ortiz, who uses these brands on her own skin.

If you’re in doubt about a skin-care product, talk to your dermatologist for recommendations or visit cosmeticsinfo.org, a consumer site from the Personal Care Products Council with extensive information about the safety, testing, and regulation of cosmetics and personal products.

You can also check out the recommendations of the American Academy of Dermatology on how to choose an anti-aging product.

Another thing to keep in mind: Anti-aging products that promise results that “affect the structure or function of the body,” for example by eliminating wrinkles or increasing collagen production, are technically considered drugs, per the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Therefore, they require FDA approval (read: scientific research backing up their claims) before promising users those types of results.

Check out the FDA’s list of companies that have received warning letters for selling cosmetics with unapproved anti-aging claims to avoid buying something that may not be backed up by science.

  1. Skip The Hype

If a product miraculously claims to solve all of your anti-aging needs and then some, it’s a red flag to think twice before purchasing. “No single product is your answer to anti-aging, in the same way that no single food will keep you healthy,” says Idriss.

A great anti-aging routine is a balance of incorporating various ingredients that each target different aspects of the aging process in your unique complexion, she says.

So, for example, look to a peel to brighten dark spots, a serum to target fine lines and wrinkles, and a moisturizer to hydrate.

You should be skeptical of ultra-trendy anti-aging treatments, such as products with plant stem cells, since many of them haven’t been backed by a lot of research.

“There is no scientific evidence to show that plant stem cells could have regenerative effects on human skin, so save your money and pass!” says Idriss.

In order to be effective, stem cells must be kept alive, and the reality is that they’re too fragile to remain intact in skincare formulations—plus they’re too large to penetrate skin, she says.

“That being said, human stem-cell technologies are making huge advancements and are likely to revolutionize skincare in years to come,” adds Idriss.

Meanwhile, Ortiz says to skip those anti-aging products that claim to contain collagen in favor of those with ingredients with growth factors and retinoids that help stimulate collagen production.

The collagen molecule itself is too large to penetrate through skin, leaving it to sit on top of your complexion with no truly beneficial function, Ortiz says.

With this info, you should be armed with the confidence (and the knowledge) that will help you find the right anti-aging products for you.

Could facial yoga be the key to younger-looking skin?

Could facial yoga be the key to younger-looking skin? Facial Yoga has been making a name for itself as an alternative anti-aging beauty treatment for some time now. The health and beauty benefits of practicing yoga have been well documented. But did you know that stretching it all out could be just as good for your face?

Facial Yoga has been making a name for itself as an alternative anti-aging beauty treatment for some time now. The concept involves using exercises to tone, lift and sculpt muscles in the face and counteract sagginess and puffiness for a rejuvenated appearance.

Back in 2015, a pop-up called SkinGym Face Fitness established itself in New York offering a workout called ‘Face Love’. Its U.K. equivalent, FaceGym, is still going strong, with a location in the London’s flagship Selfridges department store as well as a stand-alone studio in the capital.

FaceGym describes itself as “the U.K.’s only gym studio for the face and the original non-invasive face workout“, offering clients the chance to have their muscles stretched and sculpted by dedicated ‘face trainers’.

This year, the trend reached L.A. too, thanks to the city’s new Skin Fit Gym, which hosts dedicated face training classes for individuals and groups.

“Face workouts are the new facials,” says FaceGym’s founder, Inge Theron.

But what if you can’t get to a brick-and-mortar studio for a session?

Luckily, facial workouts are also thriving online, giving rise to gurus like British ‘Face Yoga Expert’ Danielle Collins, who guides followers through various facial exercises via a series of YouTube tutorials.

One of Collins’ most popular videos, published this March, is aimed at smoothing out frown lines. She suggests gently massaging the area between the eyebrows, as well as lightly tapping the forehead and gently pinching and pulling at the eyebrows to relieve tension and help stimulate the production of collagen.

FaceGym also published an article this April detailing a series of DIY facial exercises that can aid lymphatic drainage and reduce the appearance of under-eye circles.

Is facial yoga set to become a mainstream beauty trend? It remains to be seen, but when it comes to working out, maybe we could all use a little extra face time.
