Does it seem that every winter you get sick more often and it takes you much longer to get well?

Does a common cold sideline you as long as the flu?

If this sounds familiar you could be suffering from a weak immune system. Weakened immunity makes us feel constantly tired, workouts are less effective and you constantly feel stressed out.

There are a lot of reasons that your immune system has taken a beating. It can be simple aging or environmental pollutants, pushing yourself too hard or chronic stress.

In fact just about everything can contribute to a weak immune system, but for most it isn’t a permanent problem. With these 5 tips, you can boost your immune system so you feel better and more energetic.

  1. Live Well & Prosper

Ok so this is a pretty obvious one, but it is also one we are all most likely to forget or neglect. The best way to fight disease and illness is to maintain a healthy lifestyle, which includes:

  • Don’t smoke or quit smoking

  • Enjoy a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and low in dairy and saturated fats.

  • Rest often.

  • If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation.

  • Wash your hands regularly and cook meats using at least minimum internal temperatures.

  • Get appropriate screening tests.

  1. Several Vitamins A Day

A healthy diet is without a doubt important, but many of us don’t get all the vitamins and nutrients we need through our meals. Numerous studies have found deficiencies in micronutrients that can result in a reduction of immunity cells.

Add more of these vitamins into your daily regimen:

  • Selenium. Studies have found low selenium levels raise the risk of certain types of cancer, including; breast, bladder, colon, rectum, lung, and prostate.

  • Vitamin A. Immunity experts agree that a vitamin A deficiency is linked to impaired immunity and an increased risk of infection.

  • Vitamin B2. Studies have suggested that vitamin B2 boosts resistance to bacterial infections.

  • Vitamin B6. A vitamin B6 deficiency can depress the formation of immunity cells.

  • Vitamin CVitamin Cworks with other micronutrients to boost immunity.

  • Vitamin D. Vitamin D, which most North Americans are deficient in, plays a role in many immune responses.

  • Vitamin E. A study involving healthy subjects over age 65 found that high daily doses of vitamin E increased antibody responses to hepatitis B and tetanus after vaccination.

  • Zinc. Zinc is essential for immunity cells. A deficiency affects the ability of these cells to function as they should.

  1. Helping Herbs

The science on the usefulness of herbs as supplements is not quite complete. Many of the studies in existence provide anecdotal evidence or insufficient control groups.

This is an important fact to remember with the large number of herbs on the market promising to boost immunity with no real proof.

While this is true it is also important to remember that Eastern culture has relied on herbal remedies for centuries with many positive results.

Be careful in the supplements you choose, but here is a small list of herbs that can help boost your immunity:

  • Aloe Vera.Topical aloe Vera is a powerful anti-inflammatory used to ward off infections from burns and other wounds.

  • Astragals membranes.Derived from the root of the astragals plant, this herb stimulates the immune system, giving it greater fighting power.

  • Lab tests have proven garlic as a powerful foe against viruses, bacteria, and fungi. A 2006 study found a link between the frequency of use of garlic and a reduced risk of some common forms cancers in southern Europe.

  • It’s unclear how ginseng root works, but non-Western practitioners have been prescribing ginseng to stimulate immune function for centuries.

  1. Bacteria Is Your…Friend?

There is growing body of literature that indicates that a relationship exists between your immune system and the good bacteria found in your body.

Scientists now know that certain bacteria can correct imbalances in order to increase the quantity of immunity cells.

Some anecdotal studies and incomplete studies have indicated that adding good bacteria like probiotics to your diet can increase immunity cell levels.

Many food and dairy products list probiotics on their labels. Unfortunately none of these ingredients are regulated, so the claims cannot be verified.

  1. De-stress For Success

For decades modern medicine has treated stress and emotional instability as nothing more than an aside, but recently scientists have begun to understand and acknowledge that a link does exist between physical and mental health. Emotional stress can lead to as well as aggravate many health problems and delay recovery.

Researchers believe that psychological stress impacts the immune system by disrupting communication between the systems in the body that work together. Stress hormones like cortisol have a negative effect on our ability to handle stress.

Any steps you can take to reduce the stress of daily life– yoga, music, meditation, exercise or reading–can help boost your immune system to keep you healthy.

Why Valerian Root Can Really Improve Your Sleep Easily?

Why Valerian Root Can Really Improve Your Sleep Easily? If you are looking to improve your sleep easily, here is the best alternative to sleeping pills.
Sleepzyme – The Most Powerful, Natural Sleep Aid! Click HERE!

Valerian, a flowering plant native to Europe and Asia, has been valued for its mild sedative properties since ancient times. Hippocrates was among those who described its therapeutic uses, and it was prescribed for insomnia as early as the 2nd century.

It’s thought that insomnia impacts your brain and nervous system, and may increase the amount of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter known for its inhibitory effect on nerves, essentially helping them to calm down.

Some anxiety medications and hypnotics like Ambien and Lunesta actually work by increasing GABA activity.  Valerian may have a similar, though somewhat weaker, effect.

In fact, Germany’s Commission E (the country’s regulatory agency for herbs) has approved valerian as a mild sedative.

Valerian is a Popular Alternative to Sleeping Pills and Can Improve Your Sleep Easily

Sleeping pills are notorious for their side effects and addictive potential, which is why many people prefer Valerian as an alternative. Research suggests the herb is useful for various sleep disorders, helping people to both fall asleep faster and have a better sleep quality.

For instance:

  • A combination of Valerian and hops was found to reduce sleep latency (the time it takes you to fall asleep) significantly compared to a placebo.

  • Valerian extract worked as well as the drug oxazepam (a drug in the same category as Valium and Xanax) in treating insomnia for six weeks.

  • In those taking a valerian preparation, 44 percent reported perfect sleep and 89 percent reported improved sleep — no side effects were reported.

  • Valerian relieved both stress and insomnia in people who took it for six weeks.

  • A meta-analysis of 16 studies found that Valerian might improve sleep quality without producing side effects.

Further, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center:

“One of the best designed studies found that valerian was no more effective than placebo for 14 days, but by 28 days valerian greatly improved sleep for those who were taking it.

Some researchers now think you may need to take valerian for a few weeks before it begins to work. However, in another study, valerian was more effective than placebo almost immediately.

Other studies show that valerian reduces the time it takes to fall asleep and improves the quality of sleep itself. Unlike many prescription sleeping pills, valerian may have fewer side effects, such as morning drowsiness.”

In short, there’s a reason why people have been using Valerian to help them settle their nerves and sleep well since the beginnings of time … it works!

Valerian’s Other Uses (Anti-Anxiety and Much More)

While most widely known for its role in sleep support, Valerian also shows promise for anxiety relief. One study found no significant differences between Valerian and diazepam (Valium), and it’s been found that Valerian’s anti-anxiety action is due to its action on GABA receptors.

Valerian has many other traditional uses as well, including for depression, tremors, epilepsy, muscle and joint pain, menstrual cramps, chronic fatigue syndrome, nervous asthma and ADHD.

It’s even been found to improve the symptoms of restless leg syndrome, including decreasing daytime sleepiness.

In fact, in addition to its sedative properties, Valerian also has the following characteristics:

  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-hypertensive
  • Anti-coronaryspastic
  • Anti-bronchospastic
  • Anti-spasmodic
  • Anti-convulsive

Sea Buckthorn Oil Benefits for Skin

Sea Buckthorn Oil has been used for centuries to promote inner health and well-being as a dietary substance or natural healer for burns or for skin conditions such as eczema, but now the Sea Buckthorn plant is becoming renowned for its skincare benefits.

Nowadays sea buckthorn oil has also been marketed by cosmetic and health companies in anti-aging preparations and oral care products as its benefits are increasingly known. Sea Buckthorn Oil is used alongside many other all natural ingredients and these form a cocktail of nutrients to feed and pamper your skin.

People who favour natural skincare believe that natural beauty goes further than just skin deep and with carefully selected ingredients they feed the skin as opposed to stripping it with the harsh chemicals of traditional skincare products.

Known for its anti-aging properties and for being termed the elixir of youth, Sea Buckthorn Oil is perfect for those who wish to turn back the clock and reduce the tell-tale signs of aging, but it’s also suitable for skin of all ages and soothes, hydrates and regenerates.

This is due to the fact that sea buckthorn oil is the most potent source of palmitoleic acid with concentration as high as 34%. This fatty acid supports cellular regeneration as a component of the skin fat and creates a silky soft and smooth feeling to the skin.

Sea Buckthorn oil enhances microcirculation promoting the elasticity of your skin and helping to protect it from harmful weather conditions. It can also protect the skin from ultraviolet rays, so the skin care product containing this oil can be used for sun protection.

Sea buckthorn oil has been used by both Eastern and Western medicine for the treatment of skin conditions over long years. Sea buckthorn oil can really help you in curing several disorders like: heat, sun and chemical burns, eczema and weakly healing wounds. A large number of Russian cosmonauts make use of this medication in order to safeguard their skin from cosmic emission. It can even help in curing eczema.

Sea Buckthorn Oil contains Vitamin C & E, which has effective anti-inflammatory properties. This oil contains several nutrients that are essential to enhance inner radiance and quality of the skin. The oil also contains oils rich in essential fatty acids (Omega 3,6,and 7)which have been shown to soothe the skin & reduce redness commonly seen in many acne and rosacea cases.

A 2010 study published in the “Journal of Pharmacy & Bio Allied Sciences” tested the effects of sea buckthorn oil on sebum production. The researchers found that sea buckthorn extract has potent anti-sebum effects. A reduction of sebum production could control inflammation of the skin.

The human body does not naturally produce Omega 7 fatty acids, and are very rarely found in the plant kingdom. However, Omega 7 fatty acids are a vital factor in skin production, which you can find in great abundance in sea buckthorn oil.

When you use sea buckthorn topically, as in a moisturizer or herbal lotion, with this addition and some bio flavonoids, you will be able to take advantage of the full, natural healing properties of this plant for your skin.

You can also take sea buckthorn in a powder form, pill form or other, giving you the ultimate opportunity to take advantage of the extensive health benefits available from sea buckthorn.

If you care about your skin and covet products that do not contain harmful ingredients but enhance the qualities of your skin and promote inner radiance, then it’s worth trying products that contain sea buckthorn oil and feel the difference.

Others will start to notice just how good your skin looks too and these endorsements will in turn increase your confidence. Consider these products an investment into the longevity and future health of your skin and with Sea Buckthorn Oil as an active ingredient, your skin will feel soon start to feel the benefits of these nourishing treatments.

How to use sea buckthorn oil?

As a facial care – apply to dry clean skin and leave for at least 20 min. If necessary wipe out the excess. For mature skin, apply at the evening and leave overnight. Because of high content of carotenes, oil extract has rich reddish color but it will not color the skin as all nutrients will be assimilated.

Please note that due to the high content of carotenes, the oil sometimes may cause light burning sensation for a few moments after the administration. For sensitive skin (baby skin) dilute the oil in 2 tablespoons of olive or almond oil.

To help heal sunburns and reverse skin damaging effect of sun radiation, apply to the affected areas as soon after the sun exposure as possible. To promote skin recovery and avoid skin aging effects of sun – continue treatments until the inflammation is visible.
Do note that due to the high content of carotenes, Sea Buckthorn oil extracts may increase sensitivity to sun for some skin types. Accordingly, I do not recommend you to wear it for a long time under direct sun light.

At the same time, when applied after the sun exposure, Sea Buckthorn oil helps reverse negative effects of sun radiation, reduces skin irritation and inflammation, combat skin aging effects, and prevents development of sun burns.

In case of hypersensitive skin or very thin skin, like skin around the eyes, high level of carotenes in the oil may cause light burning sensation shortly after the application. It should fade in several minutes. For very sensitive skin dilute Sea Buckthorn oil extract with 1- 2 tablespoons of olive or almond oil
To promote the recovery of skin injuries, apply the oil generously to the area and cover with dressing if necessary. Clean the area and reapply oil in 8 – 12 hours. Continue daily applications until healing process is well under way.

To promote the healing of the skin after laser surgery or radiation therapy, apply to the affected areas. Repeat in 2, 6 hours and every 8 – 12 hours thereafter as needed.

Warning

Allergy to sea buckthorn oil is possible and will lead to reddening and swelling of the skin. Sea buckthorn oil may have negative interactions with antibiotics, blood pressure medication and cancer treatments.

Sea buckthorn oil could also lower blood sugar levels and should be avoided by people with diabetes. Sea buckthorn oil prevents blood clotting and therefore you should not use it when you are going to have surgery. Always consult your doctor before beginning treatment.

So, these are some of the most important things to note regarding sea buckthorn oil. It is a great medication that can offer you amazing health benefits. Have a lot of fun and enjoy yourself while moving further in the right direction. You must collect proper information regarding this topic before purchasing this beneficial oil.
