Although many people suffer from chronic bad breath, also called halitosis, some people only experience the fear of having bad breath. This fear is referred to as halitophobia, and it occurs in those who think they have bad breath when they do not.

Individuals who suffer from halitophobia experience extremely overstated concerns or delusions about having bad breath. This condition is estimated to be present in nearly 25 percent of patients seeking professional assistance for halitosis, and almost one-half to one percent of adults may suffer from halitophobia.

For those with halitophobia, the fear of having others become aware of their perceived bad breath can lead them to demonstrate a variety of odd behaviors.

For example, someone with halitophobia may cover his or her mouth when talking or avoid interacting with others in social situations. Those with halitophobia can often fixate on cleaning their teeth and tongue and may constantly use gum, mints, mouthwashes, and sprays in an effort to reduce their distress at their apparent bad breath.

These coping behaviors can often be attributed to some form of obsessive-compulsive disorder which prompts specific self-conscious patterns.

Halitophobia is regarded as severe when the fear of having bad breath prompts individuals to experience impaired daily functioning such as social anxiety, depression, and withdrawal.

Initially, the most effective method of treating halitophobia is to get rid of any potential bad breath symptoms. See your dentist regularly for cleanings and exams, and make sure you maintain a thorough oral-hygiene routine of brushing and flossing teeth and gums.

If no underlying medical or hygienic reason for bad breath can be found by a dentist, those with halitophobia can often benefit from seeing a psychologist.

Only a clinical psychologist can officially diagnose and treat the psychosomatic aspects of halitophobia. Psychological counselling and treatment may address any causal reasons for the phobia and can propose ways to help alleviate distress.

Your hair might be dry and damaged for several reasons, such as living in extremely hot or cold environments, chemical processing, excessive heat styling or poor eating habits. Dry, damaged and brittle hair is difficult to style, and trying to find the best product to return your hair to its former luster can be even more challenging.

Whatever the cause, you can try the following recipes to make your own conditioner to repair dry, damaged hair in order to restore the shine, softness and strength to your hair.
Egg Conditioner to Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

To prepare this conditioner, you will need 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of raw organic honey (preferably manuka honey) and 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil. You can also add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice (optional) if you find the smell of egg unpleasant. If you have long hair, you can double the amount of the ingredients.

You mix all the ingredients together and you can now massage the mixture onto your wet hair. You let this mixture stay on your hair for up to 30 minutes before you rinse off with cold water.

Egg is the best source of protein for your hair. The yolk is rich in fat and protein which is very moisturizing. This treatment can be used every 2 weeks or monthly.

Glycerin Conditioner to Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

To prepare this moisturizing conditioner, you need 1 banana, 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (or any oils you have), 4 tablespoons of raw organic honey (preferably manuka honey) and 4 tablespoons of glycerin.

You mix all the ingredients in a blender until you can a smooth paste. Then you apply the paste to your washed hair and let it stay here for between 15 to 30 minutes before you rinse off.

Mayonnaise Conditioner to Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

To prepare this natural conditioner, you will need 1 banana, 1 avocado, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey (preferably manuka honey). First, you use a fork to mash the banana and avocado until they become a paste. Then you add in the mayonnaise and honey to the banana and avocado mixture in a blender to blend well.

First, you make sure your hair is dry. You start applying the conditioner from the top section of your hair and work your way down, concentrating on the hair tips as the tips are more likely to be damaged. You leave the conditioner for up to 15 minutes and rinse it off with water.

Mayonnaise is made of oil and egg; therefore it is very moisturizing for your hair. The high-fat content of avocado makes hair less dry and prone to breakage. Banana nourishes your hair and prevents the hair from getting frizzy. Honey adds sheen to your hair so it can be also be used to lighten your hair.

Milk Conditioner to Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

Lactic acid in milk can help to build the strength and elasticity of your hair.  A warm milk and honey mixture works as both a conditioner and restorative treatment. To prepare this conditioner, you need 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons of raw organic honey (preferably manuka honey) and 1 tablespoon of milk.

You simply combine the 3 ingredients together in a microwave safe bowl. Then you microwave the mixture for about 30 seconds. Then you stir in 1 tablespoon of natural unbleached flour to make a paste.

You can then apply this paste on your wet hair and allow the conditioner to stay there for at least 15 minutes before washing as normal.

Yogurt Conditioner to Repair Dry, Damaged Hair

Yogurt has natural milk proteins which strengthens your hair. To prepare this natural conditioner, you just need to mix 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt with 2 egg yolks.

When you need to use, you simply massage the mixture onto your hair and let it sit for at least 15 minutes before you rinse and shampoo your hair. You can apply this treatment every week.

Besides smoothing the hair shaft, adding shine and reducing frizz, this deep conditioning protein treatment can also improve the appearance of dry, damaged hair.

Anti-Aging is probably one of the most talked about topics amongst women because every woman wishes to retain her youthfulness either with the help of natural techniques or chemical treatments. Aging is a natural process and no one can stop it but we can definitely slow down the aging process and age gracefully.

I was having tea with a friend last week, and we were discussing our extensive skin care regimens. As we were exchanging tips and advice, I realized that I have amassed a virtual recipe box of facials that can be done using fresh fruit and other items that can easily be found in the kitchen.

As there are many of you out there that could benefit from this knowledge, I have decided to share with you some skin tightening recipes that can help you get rid of Crow’s Feet, Wrinkles, Saggy and Dull Skin.

Skin Tightening Recipe#1

You have to grate a potato and get the juice out of it. Add that to one tablespoon of corn flour and one teaspoon of honey. Leave it on for about a quarter of an hour and then rinse off. You will notice that your skin definitely feels tighter.

Skin Tightening Recipe#2

Mix an egg white with a teaspoon of honey and olive oil to prepare a mask to reduce wrinkles. Smear this homemade mask on your face and neck for 15-20 minutes. Egg in this mask will help to tighten the pores and honey will act as a great moisturizer.

This egg white mask will give you a firm and tightening look and at the same time it is beneficial for dry and dull skin. It may take 10-15 minutes.

You might be able to feel the tightening of your skin, irrespective of your skin type. For those who are put off by the egg smell, simply put rose water on your face. Using a facial mask on a weekly basis helps to tighten your skin naturally.

Packed with vitamins, minerals, and protein, an egg mask is a nourishing natural skin care treatment suitable for all skin types. Eggs also happen to make simple homemade mask for acne. Eggs have astringent, tightening, and toning properties that help heal and dry out blemishes.

Skin Tightening Recipe#3

Mix milk cream, sandalwood and turmeric to make a face pack. Take one tablespoon Sandalwood Powder, a pinch of Turmeric Powder and one tablespoon of Milk Cream (boil some milk for about ten minutes and let it cool for some time, you would be able to see a thick layer of cream on the top), mix them well together and apply on your face. Rinse off after fifteen minutes.

Sandalwood has cooling and skin tightening properties, milk cream nourishes your skin and Turmeric is known for its anti-bacterial and skin brightening properties. This face pack nourishes, tightens skin, heals adult acne, lightens age spots, cools skin and brings glow to your face.

Note: Turmeric can stain your cloth so make sure you don’t wear any light colored cloth while applying this mask.

Skin Tightening Recipe#4

You can also prepare your own coffee and plum exfoliator.  Coffee exfoliates, revitalizes and has anti-aging properties; Plum is another effective antioxidant so this combination makes a wonderful anti-aging exfoliator.

Take one Tablespoon fine ground coffee and mix it with 3 mashed Plums and one teaspoon honey. Apply it on your face and gently scrub off after ten minutes.

Skin Tightening Recipe#5

You can prepare a skin toner using Green Tea and Chamomile. Green Tea and Chamomile is a very effective Anti-aging toner. Boil one cup Water and steep one Green tea Bag and one Chamomile Tea Bag. Let it cool for some time.

Apply it on your face with the help of a cotton ball. Do NOT rinse. This toner not only takes care of signs of aging but also soothes puffy eyes and lightens your complexion.

Skin Tightening Recipe#6

One of my favourite skin tightening recipes is the peach facial, which works very well as a tightening mask. Simply take a ripened peach, and remove the skin and the pit from the center.

Place the peach and the whites from a single egg in a blender, and whip until smooth. Pat the mixture onto your face, and allow it to sit there for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water.

Skin Tightening Recipe#7

I have found that the apple mask is very good for normal skin. Peel, core, and quarter an apple. Chop the apple in your blender, and add two tablespoons of honey. Blend until smooth. Then remove the mixture from the blender, and refrigerate for approximately 10 minutes.

Apply the mixture to your face using a patting motion, and be sure to pat until the honey becomes tacky. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, and rinse with warm water.

Skin Tightening Recipe#8

This facial mask is excellent for blemished skin. Chop a ripened tomato into small pieces, and place it in your blender. Add one tablespoon of lemon juice and some instant oatmeal or rolled oats.

Mix until it is all combined. Do not mix for too long, as it will not stick to your face. If it gets too thin, simply add more oatmeal. Apply the mixture, and leave it on for 10 minutes. Scrub it off using a warm, wet cloth.
