Scalp eczema can be easily considered a curse. Not only do you have to deal with extreme itchiness, but embarrassing flakes as well. If you constantly have to go out in public, this condition can wreck havoc to your self-confidence.

There are a number of different eczema treatments available in the market today, mostly steroid-based.

However, if you have taken the time to really study the causes of eczema then you may have already known that it is brought about by the body’s immune system’s overactive reaction.

This means, if you are keen on finding an effective, lasting eczema treatment, then you will need to focus on the root cause and work on promoting healing from within the body and not just application of salves and ointments that are only known to provide temporary relieve.

Avoid Natural Oils

If you are dealing with scalp eczema, it is very important to understand that there are many natural oils present in shampoos and conditions that can aggravate your condition. This is because the oil feeds the fungus that can cause your scalp eczema to worsen.

A specific oil known as oleic oil is commonly found in shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil and olive oil. So whether you are looking for shampoo or lotion ingredients, steer clear from products that contain any of these ingredients.

OTC Dandruff Shampoos as Scalp Eczema Treatment

Choosing shampoos that are specifically formulated to treat dandruff is a good start when finding scalp eczema treatment. This will help relieve itching and flaking of your scalp.

Most anti-dandruff shampoos contain anti-fungal agents like ketoconazole and pyrithione zinc, which are known to be highly effective in reducing skin fungus.

Most dandruff shampoos are recommended to be used 3 to 4 times a week in order to ensure effectiveness in reducing anti-fungal activity. Once the itchiness and flaking have abated, then you can slowly ease back to your normal hair washing routine or alternate your regular shampoo with an anti-dandruff variety.

Avoid Use of Hair Care Products

Are you fond of using gels, mousse or sprays? Then carefully consider eliminating them from your daily grooming as these products can seriously aggravate your scalp eczema.

If you are suffering from a severe condition, chances are, there are open wounds due to excessive scratching and you definitely don’t want to expose any open wound to harsh chemicals.

Specifically Formulated Shampoos

With so many people suffering from eczema today, you have ready access to products that are specifically formulated to help relieve eczema. Take time to choose shampoos that contain tar, salicylic acid or pyrithione zinc, all of which are known to effectively clean the scalp from fungus.

When using such products, make sure to focus on applying it on the scalp and not on the entire length of the hair as these formulations are known to cause excessive dryness.

Just like the skin on our face, believe it or not our lips age too. They lose collagen and the subcutaneous fat within the lips. They are also prone to damage from free radicals. The lips begin to thin and the Cupid’s bow (the v-shape on the top lip) begins to flatten out.

To prevent and/or reduce aging be sure to moisturize, exfoliate and protect. You can do this by learning how to make your own homemade lip balm.

To make your own homemade lip balm, you need to learn the basic principles of its preparation. It goes without saying that when making any type of preparation to be used on the skin, cleanliness is of the utmost importance.

You certainly do not want to incorporate any bacteria or fungi into your finished product by using unhygienic equipment and containers! Make sure to sanitize all of your equipment. A great, inexpensive sanitizing solution is one teaspoon of bleach per quart of hot water.

Leave all of your equipment such as measuring cups, stirring spoons and containers in the bleach solution for a minimum of five minutes to kill any microbes. Let them air dry completely before using them.

Homemade lip balm is a very simple product to make and one that can easily be customized to your own tastes. When I says “tastes” I mean that literally too! You can make lip balms with great flavors such as honey, cranberry, chocolate, vanilla, peppermint and more.

You can even make lip balms that taste just like your favorite hard candy. All you need is a few basic, simple ingredients, and some very basic cooking skills. If you can melt some wax over a bowl of hot water, you have the skill to make balm.

When shea butter is used in homemade lip balm it aids in relieving dry lips, chapped lips and cracked lips. It softens, soothes and moisturizes to help provide for beautiful lips! You can have kissable lips with natural, homemade, lip balms!

If your are bothered by chapped lips, you can easily create your own homemade  lip balm by combining honey, sour cream and cucumber, and applying the mixture to the lips for at least 15 minutes. Then rinse them with some warm water, and consider applying a little almond oil to keep your lips moist.

You can easily change the consistency of homemade lip balm quite easily. If you like a more waxy consistency, simply add a little more beeswax to the recipe. If you like a softer consistency, increase the amount of oil in your recipe slightly.

It is fun to experiment to find the consistency and flavoring that you like the best. You can even add some natural colorant to your recipes in the form of beet juice and cranberries to add a beautiful flush to your lips.

Homemade lip balm also requires use of a preservative if it is to be kept for more than a day or two. Fortunately, an easy, inexpensive preservative can be found in the form of a vitamin E capsule. Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant, and works well to help increase the shelf life of homemade beauty products of all types. This works great for balms that you make for your own use.

You will also consider how you want to package your final product. As you already probably know, there are countless containers that lip balm is usually sold in. For starters you have standard chapstick style tubes, squeezable tubes, jars, tins and then countless variations of each of those.

Following is a recipe you can try to make the perfect homemade lip balm to deal with dry and cracked lips

The ingredients you need are 1 tablespoon of shea butter, 1 teaspoon of beeswax, half tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, 1 Vitamin E gel caplet and 3 drops of rose geranium essential oil.

Melt all the ingredients (except the Vitamin E gel and rose geranium essential oil) in a boiler. Once they have melted, you let them cool down for 5 minutes.

Next you pierce the Vitamin E caplet to empty its contents into the melted ingredients and finally you add in the rose geranium essential oil. Stir well and pour the mixture into a squeezable tube or small jar. Once the mixture has hardened, you can apply it on your lips.

How to Naturally Boost Collagen in Skin and Fight Signs of Aging

In your pursuit to get a young looking skin, it is definitely challenging to find the right product for you when you are faced with so many choices of anti-aging products on the market today.

Well Kollagen Intensiv has been specially formulated to speed up the skin’s renewal process on the cellular level by stimulating the natural production of collagen that keeps your skin looking youthful, firm and radiant.

Its luxurious formulation contains the highest grade of vitamins, peptides, anti-oxidants, fatty acids, trace minerals, essential oils, and enzymes that work together to nourish, repair, and rejuvenate the skin.

Some of these ingredients include:

Syn-Coll – has been proven to boost collagen production in your skin. It also reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles as well as firming and toning the skin. It moisturizes and helps reduce damage caused by the sun.

Shea Butter – has been used for centuries to protect skin from the damages caused by the sun. It is a natural ingredient (extracted from the nut of the African shea tree) which softens skin, and moisturizes as well.

Shea butter has traditionally been used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, burns and to ease a variety of skin irritations, such as psoriasis, eczema and sunburn.

Shea butter is ideal for the topical application of cosmetic and medicinal formulas, because it melts on contact and is readily absorbed into the skin, without leaving a greasy residue.  It is also very effective as a UV screen.

Cyclopentasiloxane – is an emollient that fills in the fine lines and wrinkles associated with aging, temporarily plumping the skin for a more youthful appearance. It also makes your skin silky smooth.

Glycerin (Plant Derived) –acts as humectants, attracting moisture to your skin, naturally softening and helping to prevent dryness.

Retinol and Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A Palmitate) – are antioxidants essential for good skin health, which are proven to have the ability to neutralize free radicals while stimulating skin cell rejuvenation. Retinol does wonders to getting younger skin by increasing collagen production to smooth skin texture, increases firmness, improves elasticity, and diminishes the look of deep wrinkles, fine lines and age spots.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Stabilized Vitamin C) – is considered to be a potent antioxidant. It is well-known for its collagen boosting properties.

It has been shown to boost collagen production (including dermal collagen, which is significant for wrinkle reduction), reduce the appearance of skin discolorations and unsightly age spots, strengthen skin’s barrier response, enhance skin’s repair process, reduce inflammation, and help skin better withstand exposure to sunlight, whether protected by sunscreen or not.

It is beneficial for those women with more sensitive skin, as it is gentler and effective in significantly lower concentrations than Vitamin C.

Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil – promotes epidermal healing.  It is a natural source of lecithin, sterolins, and vitamin E. It is easily absorbed into the skin and leaves your face feeling really smooth and fresh.

Soybean oil can help restore the lustre and the glow of one’s skin. Also, soybean oil can aid in healing the damage that is done to skin by pollution and by sun exposure.

How does soy bean oil help restore the qualities of the skin? Well, soybean oil is full of fatty acids. Fatty acids are absolutely the key in maintaining and restoring the health and the balance of the skin. In addition, soybean oil is absolutely bursting with specific anti-oxidants that have been proving in maintaining skin health and helping keep that special glow.

Anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin B complex are the essentials for helping to restore the radiance and the natural beauty of skin. Vitamin and Vitamin B complex are also instrumental in helping to control and to prevent the development and the appearance of wrinkles.

In addition to helping control and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, soybean oil will help fix uneven skin and will control and restore more even skin tone. By improving the texture of skin, then soybean oil will help you develop more glowing and brighter skin. Soybean oil helps to even out skin tone and improve skin’s texture resulting in brighter, more radiant skin.

Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract – contains natural acids that act as a skin toner and whitener while moisturizing, soothing, and tightening the skin. Offers natural protection against the sun and includes anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps in promoting skin rejuvenation by removing dead skin cells.

Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract – is associated with several skin benefits. Green tea extract appears to exert a sun protective effect by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation in the skin. Therefore it is an extremely potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.

It also appears to help stop the collagen-reducing enzyme (collagenese) that breaks down collagen which in turns helps to maintain your skin’s firmness and elasticity. It also contains Methylxanthines that helps with your circulation, toning, and improves overall skin health. Green tea extract can actually decrease wrinkles and also makes you look younger.

Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C Palmitate) – is a type of vitamin C, which is necessary for the production of collagen in your body. It is also an antioxidant which supports healthy skin.

Hyaluronic Acid – works with collagen to maintain your skin’s layers and structure, nourishing and hydrating the collagen to keep it moist and elastic.
